    US Elections (& Politics) :)

Notice in the report it states that the "Israelis believe" he has been killed. They say this "with the highest degree of confidence". Yet the headline says without any disclaimers or cautions that it's a fact.

Here's a story about how he's suing the city: Man accused of trying to kidnap toddler from Walmart sues city after charges dropped Our system is so screwed up. I think he should win the suit. But who pays? The innocent taxpayers. It's the accusing woman and deranged city officials who...

All, or at least most, of the newer cameras have a reset button under the hatch where the SD card goes. Have you looked there?

Liberty and Freedom : The Power Company Tried to Own Me, So I Built My Own Network ( Off Rid, Tech independence )

In my often contradictory mode, I think the primary purpose of this video is self promotion. Aside from that, there are two themes: (1) Independence from the "system". (2) The great technical achievement of the power system he built. On the independence aspect, I think that's pretty obvious...

Stupid people deserve their own thread....

Is there any media outlet that is politically neutral? I haven't found one, and add to that, on the Internet, number of clicks is more important than accurate reporting.

I got 4 Ego lawn/garden tools to have a common battery: Chainsaw, leaf blower, string trimmer, hedge trimmer. One had a "free battery" promotion, so I've got 5 batteries, with the first one now shot. The higher end hedge trimmer and leaf blower are monsters. I was also going to get an Ego...

The big struggle I have with this is when it's time for a replacement battery for a laptop, cordless vacuum, etc. The OEM battery prices are sky-high, sometimes to the point where it's cheaper to throw away a perfectly good cordless tool and buy a new one just to get the new battery. By...

    Money & Economics

Just got my medigap price increase letter, up 15% this year, after 12% last year. In the 6 years starting with 2000, the rate has increased by 176% (almost tripled). This is just a wee bit more than the social security COLA increases ;). It looks so obvious that this house of cards we call...

Ukraine related: Was Ukraine Government Is Handing Out Guns To Citizens, What Happened to Gun Control?

Darned if I know! There are so many measuring aspects that it's one of those things where any desired result can be supported by data and stats. I'm just wondering if there is any official way to measure, or if it's all in the eye of the measurer? With most things in the world, good or bad...

Ukraine related: Was Ukraine Government Is Handing Out Guns To Citizens, What Happened to Gun Control?

How is russian strength or weakness measured? I look only at currency conversion charts. On a 5 year chart, the ruble looks about net stable with the dollar. The tall peak near the left is about when the war started. The ruble lost a lot, then gained, lost again, and now it's about the same...

    It's not just Costco

My Costco experiences have been close to opposite of what's been reported above. I see Costco stores as clean, well run, with eager, polite, and efficient employees, and the fastest checkout of anywhere. I'm not preaching that everything is great. The worst for me is how they keep moving...

    Southwire Cat5e Cable

I've had several non-outdoor cable runs have the outer insulation crack and eventually flake off in places with heavy sun exposure, and have gone to covering any sun-exposed areas with 1/4 inch split loom tubing. I realize you cable says it's Indoor/Outdoor, and maybe it has great UV...

    Money & Economics

One of our kids is 3-1/2 years into a 30 year house loan. The mortgage company occasionally contacts them to offer a refinance into a lower monthly payment. The interest rate might go down a little bit, but the major payment lowering will be from restarting the 30 year clock. And I don't...

    US Elections (& Politics) :)

I think I stumbled on a reason that Portland (Oregon) thinks it needs even more tax money. "City officials announced on Thursday that the Bull Run Filtration Project is now projected to cost $2.56 billion after a $450 million increase. That price is well above the original $500 million...

    Money & Economics

I'm not directing anything at you. I'm directing it at all of the dishonest media outlets with the sleazy headlines trying to convince readers what they want them to think, that Trump and/or the economy is good or bad, based on cherry picked data, instead of the true big picture.

Based on these 3-year charts, my own conclusion is that the deficit is possibly trending lower but it will take a bunch more months to see what the trend really is, and that anybody who claims an established trend, either direction, is cherry picking the stats and gaslighting.

I pulled the SMART values from the 4TB SSD. I don't see a direct readout for wear percentage. Maybe that has to be calculated from the various raw numbers? CrystalDiskInfo does say the health status, which it also calls Remaining Life is is 86%. The Media And Data Integrity Error count is...

    AI Data Centers

I keep asking where are the greenies on this? Supposedly these data centers can burn as much electricity, thus heating the atmosphere as a mid-size city.
