Best NVR to use, open to all brands?

I just installed a 24 port Swann NVR for a single person that just needed to see 1 or 2 cameras. (4am at a grocery store that gets early morning deliveries) The IT guy a few weeks earlier gave me a 16 port Lorex with 16 cameras to replace a Swann NVR. Only after swapping some swann cameras...

    Swann SWNHD-825CAM Standalone Recording Configuration

One of the owners asked me to check it out. I can easily bring it up via ONVIF on there LOREX sys but it will not show up on the 16 view but 8 or lee it show up. Lorex is a bit limited via the firmware, and im not a specialist with ONVIF and Swann. I'm not really asking for a fix. Just...

Multi-Zone Schedule change using RFID tags

I should probably be in the security sys forum. I've been asked to install some radios/AP's that communicate with active rfid tags. I sent the store my opinion that of the 8 ap/radios they want me to install it seems to me, more near the isles with closed glass doors and metal frames may need...

Flock installed LPR's without permits and has now been banned from operating in two states

Evanston is costlier than living in the city of Chicago. The cost of living in Evanston, which averages $2124 for an individual and $5382 for a family of 4, ranks in the top 4 percent of the most expensive cities in the world.Oct 20, 2022

Flock installed LPR's without permits and has now been banned from operating in two states

Maybe they shouldn't go with the mandated DEI company and or cheapest bid. If I had taxpayer money I'd buy ANPR's that are designed to capture plates at night in pouring down rain.

I bet a lot of you belong to the "HVAC crapped out at the worst time" club.

They don't make stuff like they used too. My Stepfather bought this from Sears at least 35 years ago. It just keeps running. Nothing is built to last past the warranty anymore.

OK.........but if you are a homeowner that's installing cameras, the 5442s are better than most. Read the wiki and firel of view. Your gonna need more cameras than 4 - 6 if you live where I do. If you are lucky to be at the top of a cul-de-sak get some big ass cameras so people can see...

I still am gonna try to get some night clips. I have decided the 4 mp 5442's are the best. I have 8mp with 1 1/2 on the front of my house and with the outside lighting, and the adjustable camera lights it's been hard not to have too much lighting although I don't mess with it enough via some...

Good camera. The 1/1.8 @ 8 mp is great if you have some ambiant light. I also installed the 8mp with the 1/1.2 sensor. If you have enough lighting I prefer the 1/1.8 sensor cam even at 8mp. Without much light th 4mp 5443 is probably better. The 8mp 1/1.8 is very good with ambiant lighting.

    Good cameras with default settings

If some of you install cameras for small companys, read the WIKI and determine if you have outside/inside lighting...if thats what your job calls for. I have the 8mp at 1/18..not as good as the 4mp cam at 1/1.8 if you want a large area...I just purchased the 8 mp with the 1/1.2 and its better...

Will a 54IR or a 22IR camera be sufficient for LPR if I'm mounting on a mailbox?

If you can afford an ANPR camera they can't be beat for capturing license plates at night on moving targets. (even in heavy rain) I completely understand for home use when you have time to dial it in as many on here have done.
