Dahua 5442T-ZE at 70-100 ft - tuning limit or upgrade needed?

I think that if the goal is day and night operation at a range of 70-100 ft then PTZ will likely be the real answer. Depending on ambient lighting, using a Z12E could be challenging, the benefit of the 5442 is in lower light, although limited zoom range. I am using a 5442 at max zoom which works...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

It has white LED's and is technically able to run colour mode overnight, it has a built in speaker and the newer user interface. In the real world, at this point in time the answer is no, if you look through the last 10-20 pages most will suggest passing on this camera for now. If you really...

Is it the video or is the H264H (static) footage not sharp at all, the others look fine? I am seeing shutter speed too slow, hence the static objects including training shoes when on the ground are sharp. Is the codec set to VBR or CBR out of interest? almost look like VBR triggering to high...

This could be the tag line on Dahua's sales blurb...."The new Dahua 54Pro, better than the 5442-S3 for static content!" Joking aside, understood re the pig pen dust cloud :thumb: - it is a major stumbling block with the 54Pro in current form (firmware), particularly in low light. During the day...

This ^^^^^ the 54Pro has very pronounced issue in this regard, also 'ghosting' at night and low light is worse than any other Dahua camera I have seen.

That is good to know, the square boxes are bulkier but useful for universal fit of 4K-X and S3 variants, noted. The 130E is a tidy box with the retaining strap, fiddly to fit but compact nonetheless.

This might well be the sub stream darkness issue I have flagged, depending on which stream is being shown via the browser. Mine actually appears to have resolved itself!! but prior to this any substream below 1080 resolution was substantially darker, as per your sample.

That looks like a fine setup. Question, is that 4K-X mounted on a PFA-121 rather than a PFA-130E, or are my eyes deceiving me?

Here is the odd thing, at some point in the last few days this has resolved itself! :wow: At the time I tried everything to resolve it, no joy, literally a direct result of the firmware upgrade, @Chokolinho was seeing it also. Right now it seems to be OK. The issue I had with the exposure...

Repair was succesful, decided against cutting it open to rework just the one cable, probably do more harm than good. That is one down and one to go, cable mapping of the replacement cable to follow and link also.

OK, this went on hold for a while! finally soldered the wires today, including clear heat shrink on all individual cables and then larger piece surrounding. Tight and fiddly job but I have done worse  I will wrap it generously in electrical tape once tested, this is still 50/50 whether it...

I think that there are not enough people testing this camera in poor lighting, it hightlights the floors more, which is a good thing. It means those fortunate enought to have street lights or additional ambient will be winning. For the sake of the three I own, hopefully they can pull this...

    Learning from IPC-T54IR-ZE purchase mistake

Pairing up cameras can be useful, you would certainly be pleased with the 4MP S3. Similarly one of the 4K variants might also be worth a try depending on your requirements, this might not be an option if you prefer IR to white LED's at night. Since purchasing the 4K-T cameras recently I am...

I did think that myself, at a guess I would have said 20-25 feet, it looked high. As above I tend to go 8-9 feet, in my mind I think these are less likely to get hit with a hammer or paint ball device :wow:  Normally you can never have enough damn cameras, overview, then tigher angle on...

Have you tried applying some frosted/etched glass window film to diffuse the beam, might well diffuse it too much but I use this on camera IR with good results, I have a post somewhere with a sample, will dig it out. See image below. Available on Amazon/eBay etc. Might need to experiment by...

Sorry, I can see that looks fine on the normal image output. It is a very large overview, light will always be required for that, suspect you will need some very beefy IR to cover properly. Similarly with floodlight you would be looking 6000-10000+ lumens, unless you slow the shutter speed down...

The daytime is pretty good so long as the light is bright enough, if it isn't, forget it, the S3 wins hands down. Similar in B&W, it isn't close to the S3 yet. Night requires a lot of work still, in both B&W and colour.

Can't quite see what is going on with the daytime image onn the S3, looks kind of grainy?!? The night image looks about what I would expect with no additional IR. The B54 bullet variant has more powerful IR illuminators on board, it would be more suited for this location. But, you can add either...
