ONVIF camera list empty when installing new camera

I run my cams at 5-6 FPS up to 10 FPS for important areas. I find that's plenty for security ID work - like getting 5-10 photos per second that I can step through, email to the police or neighborhood watch. I'm also using VBR (variable bit rate) on nearly all of the cams now. Most of the time...

ONVIF camera list empty when installing new camera

OK, problem solved. As I suspected, it was related to converting from an older Win 10 server to a newer Win 11 server. Here's what I found: all of my (20+) cameras are hardwired POE. Most of them plug directly into a 48 port 100 MBS Cisco switch. A few PTZ cams require POE+; they plug into a...

ONVIF camera list empty when installing new camera

All of the cameras I've bought for the last few years have been ONVIF compatible. I just leave them as ONVIF in BI. I have some older cams that are pre-ONVIF. I use cam-specific protocols for them. I meant that I always set my cameras to static once they're defined in BI.

ONVIF camera list empty when installing new camera

I've been using BI for about 5 years. I have 20+ POE cameras of various types and everything has been very stable for several years. I add or upgrade about 2 new cameras a year. Recently I bought a new 4K noname turret camera from Amazon. I have another identical camera and its been running...

Running 20+ cameras on a Dell Mini Tower i7-4770

I thought this might be of interest. I've been adding cameras gradually for about 5 years. I'm currently running 25 cameras of various ages and brands. Most are Amcrest 5mp turrets, but others include some older model 3mp Panasonic PTZ cams, 5x of Boavision 2mp mini PTz cams (digital zoom only)...

UI3 Convert / Export not creating output file

I'm trying to extract a clip using UI3. I've done this many times without problems, but recently no output file is being created. It goes through all of the expected steps, but there's no output file. I thought that the file might be going to some obscure folder, but I used Everthing.exe (a very...

Local murder captured on video (not my video)

Since there seems to be some interest in this story, here is a follow-up news report: https://www.chesterfield.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=3315

Local murder captured on video (not my video)

To avoid possible confusion, this was in Midlothian, VA, about 12 miles west of Richmond, VA (not Midlothian, TX) ;-)

Local murder captured on video (not my video)

This is a sad story of a homeowner in our county who was shot and killed in his own driveway exactly a year ago last Halloween night. The perp was rummaging through a car belonging to the homeowner's girlfriend. The victim worked a very early shift and was leaving for work around 3:30 am when...

What is causing the green on my cam?

Hmmm... There may be a more pernicious aspect to this problem. I've noticed that in recent months I've been getting relatively frequent "New Version Available" messages from Chrome - where you click a button to update to the latest version. That just happened on the laptop I'm working on at...

What is causing the green on my cam?

I've just started testing but haven't noticed any issues. I've confirmed that the green screen problem in Chrome goes away when I turn off hardware acceleration and comes back if I turn HA back on. I'm wondering if HA used to be turned off by default and Google decided to turn it on by default...

What is causing the green on my cam?

This may have fixed the green screen problem: turn off hardware acceleration in Chrome . Seems to be working so far. Settings / System / Use hardware acceleration when available / off / Relaunch

What is causing the green on my cam?

I'm a little late to the party, but I can share some more data that may be useful. I use UI3 pretty much all day every day on several (8) different laptops from several manufacturers and with a wide variety of ages and specs. All of the laptops are running Windows 10 and I use Chrome almost...

Amcrest IP5M-T1179E freezing after 3 days using 2020-12-30 firmware

I'm the OP on this topic. The problem never has been resolved, although the tech at Amcrest Support hung in there with me for over a month before I finally threw in the towel. There's a simple workaround that takes care of my needs: I just set the cameras that have the problem to reboot daily...

$50 BoaVision PTz Cam for portable completely-wireless use with Blue Iris

Thanks, and thanks for the battery tip. Next time I buy some I'll try Venom Fly. I'll have to say that I've had very good results with Turnigy over about 6 years of use but I've never done a side-by-side comparison with another brand. Running a test the other day powering a small Linksys router...

$50 BoaVision PTz Cam for portable completely-wireless use with Blue Iris

Here are some photos of Version 3.1. The base and backboard are cut from a plastic cutting board I bought at Walmart. I had started with aluminum, but it seemed to be interfering with the Wifi signal. I then tried 3/8" acrylic sheet, but it was relatively heavy and harder to work with. The...

$50 BoaVision PTz Cam for portable completely-wireless use with Blue Iris

I've upgraded the battery box. I can run a very small 3S LiPo, if that's all I need, or run two 2200 MaH LiPos in parallel. In a test last night, I got about 7 hours of run time with the red LED illuminators running full time. A nice feature of this setup is that I can "hot swap" batteries while...

$50 BoaVision PTz Cam for portable completely-wireless use with Blue Iris

Here are some photos of the "Control Box". It contains the following: Toggle switch DPDT with weatherproof cover to switch battery into the circuit (Twidec, Amazon 10 for $10.99) Push button N/O (not weatherproof, yet...) to turn on the power relay Tiny blue 12V SPST relay that turns power on...

$50 BoaVision PTz Cam for portable completely-wireless use with Blue Iris

Thanks, for the tip. I've solved the problem using a similar solution. I bought a second type of LVC module that seems to reduce the cutoff current nearly to zero. Just to be sure, I added a tiny 12V relay into the circuit. I turn on the power switch, then press a button to set the relay to ON...

    Unused Allocated Disk Storage

Ah! Thanks for the advice. I'll get to work on that.

    Unused Allocated Disk Storage

I thought that it would give me a few days of extra storage. It looks like it is doing what I intended.

    Unused Allocated Disk Storage

I don't understand. Stored is on the C: drive which was the original 1TB drive that came with the system.

    Unused Allocated Disk Storage

I was thinking that it would not matter whether or not that box was checked since I'm only getting about 8-9 days of recordings. Thus it would never reach the 30-day limit.

    Unused Allocated Disk Storage

OK, I unchecked that box. We'll see what happens. Thanks.
  26. P

    Unused Allocated Disk Storage

Thanks. I think I tried that, but it didn't seem to make any difference. I'll turn it off just to be sure. I should have enough unallocated disk space.

    Unused Allocated Disk Storage

About a year ago I added a 4TB D: drive to my system and moved the New and Stored folders there. About two months ago, I decided to take advantage of the 800+ GB of storage that was freed up on the C: drive. This seems to be working fine. I use variable bit rate (VBR) and low frame rates (5-10...
