Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Here's an animated GIF (generated from PNG snapshots downloaded directly from the camera) showing the difference (with my scene) between HLC OFF and HLC=1. That's quite a bit of difference visually ... plus look at the Histograms. Seems puzzling to me that setting HLC to just ONE (the scale...

    T54PRO-ZE versus ... another ... T54PRO-ZE ... ;-)

BTW, since the two camera's are darn close to identical, I'm going to take 'em down in a few hours since I need to paint the wall/camera's and get it permanently mounted ... as my wife is getting back in a few days and she is not as supportive as Mrs. Bigredfish when it comes our camera...

    T54PRO-ZE versus ... another ... T54PRO-ZE ... ;-)

Good info @bigredfish ... but can I suggest maybe posting this on the "main thread" since I just meant to spin off a discussion about comparing two identical cameras. Having said all that(!), I tried turning HLC off, but still see some dancing pixels - it's hard to quantify how much of a...

    T54PRO-ZE versus ... another ... T54PRO-ZE ... ;-)

That IS a very difficult scene (even without Mrs. Bigredfish's hair in it to assess sharpness! ;-) with lots dynamic range, lotsa detail, and focus from near to far. Having you tried any HLC ... just do ONE ... as it seems to knock down the highlights more than you think it would. This...

    T54PRO-ZE versus ... another ... T54PRO-ZE ... ;-)

Yep - there are dancing pixels ... but in this thread, I'm just focusing on comparing two of the same cameras and seeing how "identical" they are - so far, so good ... which bodes well for Dahua manufacturing/quality control. Having said that, here's 90 seconds from this morning - shows me...

    T54PRO-ZE versus ... another ... T54PRO-ZE ... ;-)

No wind this morning ... and not cloudy ... so enough light to run at 1msec (full iris, ZERO gain) and good that the two images looks pretty identical. There's quite a bit of dynamic range between the bright sun and shadows ... the camera is doing a decent job IMHO. There a separate/common...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

I don't if this is related to the orange cast issue that is being optimized, but FWIW here's what I see. I'm running with very slow shutter & high gain (don't ask!) with no added light and Auto WB ... and figured this was the camera making it's best guess as there is a variety of light sources...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

I'm also curious about #2 as I might be seeing something like this - hoping they provide some more details that you can share about exactly what the problem is and how it is fixed. I'm also seeing a bit of an orange cast at night (running with very slow shutter & high gain) ... but I figured...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Any chance this is related to my thread "Less sharpness in T54PRO-ZE (versus 5442-S3) possibly due to noise reduction being applied even if set to ZERO?" It sounds like Dahua needs to ante up for an all-expense paid trip for Mrs. Bigredfish (and a companion) to visit China so she can help with...

T54PRO-ZE wiring harness - lots of wires - believe 12V power OUT is new (and probably on other 2025 cams)

FYI FWIW that here's a picture of the wiring hardness from the T54PRO-ZE ... figured a searchable post might be handy for those down the road wondering who, like me, are not long-time expert installers like many here. I believe the other new cams have similar wiring ... and that the 12V power...

    T54PRO-ZE versus ... another ... T54PRO-ZE ... ;-)

Unfortunately, I don't have a managed switch that would show me power draw ... but that's kinda funky one was a few watts more ... because they are only pulling about 5 Watts (no lights, etc.) to begin with. Yea, I'm not expecting any "earth-shattering" insights ... but figured I'd toss it out...

    T54PRO-ZE versus ... another ... T54PRO-ZE ... ;-)

Why would there be anything interesting about comparing a T54PRO-ZE versus ... another ... T54PRO-ZE?!? Well ... it might provide some insights into unit variance ... albeit it's only two cameras. Plus when I had 'em mounted several feet apart (vertically), I thought I was some softness in the...

Less sharpness in T54PRO-ZE (versus 5442-S3) possibly due to noise reduction being applied even if set to ZERO?

LOL that's awesome @tmxv4128 - be sure to send around a picture of your "Fantastic Four" - sorry I don't have such a collection of camera's! ;-)

Less sharpness in T54PRO-ZE (versus 5442-S3) possibly due to noise reduction being applied even if set to ZERO?

So here's another good example of what I mean by the T54PRO-ZE applying some sort of Noise Reduction ... even though NR is ZERO. This was taken in the morning (you can see a bit of sun coming from the right) with the settings at 5 msec shutter (1/200s), ZERO Gain, 100 Iris, and ZERO 2D & 3D NR...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

I just added a BOLD STICKY in the post above in case it wasn't clear what I was doing here. If you just look at the picture, it's certainly worth a OMG that is BAD, BAD, BAD ... but I intentionally screwed it up. NOTE: I INTENTIONALLY AND MANUALLY PUSHED THE FOCUS HERE. THE CAMERA WILL NOT...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Yea, ideally would be at the same height ... but not easily done without drilling more holes in the side of the house. Here's a GIF showing the two images ... and yes, they don't line up exactly (especially in the vertical which would be especially impossible), but I think the horizontal FOV is...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

To followup on what I wrote above about the focus being different, here two snapshots (top picture from top camera) taken at the same time using the SAME focus setting (1732) at zoom=550. Since the camera's are within a few feet of each other (and the slant distance is less), clearly (or not so...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

So my 2nd T54PRO-ZE showed up late yesterday afternoon ... so FWI FWIW that here's a comparison if you are wondering about variance in manufacturing ... albeit just a data set of two. TL;DR is doesn't seem like much difference ... although the focus numbers weren't as close as I thought they...

Downloading videos files directly from camera via web interface (using other than IE) seems to be capped at *TEN* Mbps

Yea, ideally the common code base (such as network interface and browser integration) should be shared across platforms.

Downloading videos files directly from camera via web interface (using other than IE) seems to be capped at *TEN* Mbps

BTW @steve1225 , if you want to see some bugs that got FIXED, try using the "clean browser" and hit the snapshot button on your 5442-S3 ... mine is running Andy's 12/21/2024 firmware. As an aside, I bet you see the same I do that the (excessively large) PNG file (for my scene it is about 10...

Downloading videos files directly from camera via web interface (using other than IE) seems to be capped at *TEN* Mbps

Thanks @steve1225 for confirming the issue - means a lot coming from someone as knowledgeable as you. To be clear to everyone, this is not a "show-stopper" ... but it's an annoying bug ... and ideally should not be hard to fix - LOL if someone looks at the code and there's something that says...

Downloading videos files directly from camera via web interface (using other than IE) seems to be capped at *TEN* Mbps

First time I heard this ... so yea, it's possible that if the SD interface is really (REALLY!) screwed up, that would throttle the speeds. Since the PNG download and firmware upload probably don't involve the SD card. Is this an "official" Dahua published buglist? It would be great to put this...

Downloading videos files directly from camera via web interface (using other than IE) seems to be capped at *TEN* Mbps

As others have commented, it sounds like you have a network issue with your 54PRO. You could further troubleshoot this by trying to download a snapshot - the 10 MBYTE PNG is basically right away for me (both the 5442 and 54PRO) so I presume it's downloaded in a second. Ditto if you want to...

Downloading videos files directly from camera via web interface (using other than IE) seems to be capped at *TEN* Mbps

I just downloaded a 457.9 MBYTE .dav which took 350 seconds per timing from my phone. SD card is a (fresh) Samsung 512GByte that I just put in the camera that got delivered today, which can certainly go faster! That is 1.31 MBYTES/second - converting that to Mbit/seconds isn't quite a 8:1 (or...

Downloading videos files directly from camera via web interface (using other than IE) seems to be capped at *TEN* Mbps

Yes (with the plug-in) ... but why in 2025 should that be necessary? Modern browsers (without plugins) can download PNG's and upload firmware at 100Mbps ... why are video downloads capped at 10Mbps?

Downloading videos files directly from camera via web interface (using other than IE) seems to be capped at *TEN* Mbps

Roger there is no Gbit (see posts #6 and #7) ... but the issue is that using the web interface to download .dav files directly from the camera's SD card is at 10 (TEN) Mbps ... NOT 100Mbps ... even though that wire speed is easily obtained when downloading PNG's (via the snapshot button) or...

Downloading videos files directly from camera via web interface (using other than IE) seems to be capped at *TEN* Mbps

Pinging this thread with a 2025_10_18 update in the OP as the problem still persists with the latest firmware on the T54PRO-ZE. Maybe @EMPIRETECANDY you can ping (pun intended!) Dahua to look into this since it may be an easy fix.

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

FYI that the 4K-T is FIXED iris ... as is the T54PRO-AS ... so I assume those fixed focal length cameras always run wide open and therefore shutter speed and gain are your exposure controls. The vari-focals (5442-S3, T54PRO-ZE) can change iris/aperture ... so you have the full "triangle" to...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

I think @steve1225 is (yet again!) onto something there ... as I feel the exposure is "hotter" than the 5442-S3. As @CamCrazy wrote (good stuff and I appreciate @EMPIRETECANDY providing our feedback to the Dahua Engineers), I also have seen that dropping the gamma (to 35-40'ish even) seems to...
