    5.9.9 - January 17, 2025 - More Pre-6.0 feature releases

Can't most installers probe for the presence/version of a required framework, and then prompt the user to install said framework at installation time?

Football field security -- camera layout/design

At one end of the spectrum: "Mr. Skip Jones, father of Chip Jones, quarterback, see that camera up there? It's recording, so don't do anything stupid." At the other end: "If it please the court, this 100x zoomed video clearly shows that Mr. Skip Jones is not wearing his contact lenses, and...

Football field security -- camera layout/design

Yup. Here's a still photo through an 10.5mm Nikkor (Nikon) fisheye, straight out of my camera: and here are my cropping options after de-fishing it in Photoshop to make straight lines straight: and the final crop that I ended up using: You can see much of the original image I've lost...

Newbie here, coming from dreaded Reolink. Educate me

Yes, their marketing is utter crap, and bordering heavily on fraudulent, but don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Their doorbell cameras are a good value, and I've been using my PTZ BeeCamera for nearly 7.5 years, although not without issues. I've replaced a few of my Reolink turrets...

Could View Changelog also be added to the UI3 Update dialog box?

I found it at C:\ProgramData\Blue Iris\temp Note that ProgramData is usually hidden, so you can't browse to it. You need to type it into the path bar.

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

I haven't used any Ubiquti cameras before; do they play nicely with BI and other 3rd-party NVR/NVR software? I know some Ubiquit stuff (but not all) likes to be closed-system. Those product pages are silent on RTSP/ONVIF.

Newbie here, coming from dreaded Reolink. Educate me

You may be able to both 1) test a new camera with the Reolink NVR and 2) test the new camera with BI. Depending on how your network and NVR are set up you may also be able to do the same with all of your existing cameras.

Newbie here, coming from dreaded Reolink. Educate me

I'm not suggesting that you want to access the RLN8-410 from the BI PC; I'm suggesting that you want to access the cameras from both the RLN8-410 and from the BI PC. An easy way to check is to attach any old laptop or PC to the POE ports of the NVR and see if you get an IP address. If yes, then...

Newbie here, coming from dreaded Reolink. Educate me

Depending on which NVR model you have, it looks like you can run cameras from both the NVR and from a BI PC. From their setup guide, Method 3: if you plug a camera into the POE Switch instead of directly into the NVR, it should be accessible from both. If I'm reading that correctly.

Newbie here, coming from dreaded Reolink. Educate me

Depending on how your current NVR works, it may be possible to run your NVR and BI in parallel, with both systems seeing all of your camera, which will allow you to really compare the two experiences. If your NVR doesn't "hide" your cameras inside its own private network, then both the NVR and...

    BIG Owl on my Trail

Two Coyotes Jumping at Bird on Thoroughbred Trail, 09/21/25 I've never seen coyotes so interested in something before! You can see a bird flying into the tree, from the right side, at the start of the video. Then it does something in the tree to dislodge a bunch of debris, and from that point...

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

You do have to use the Reolink app to turn on RTSP/HTTP/ONVIF/etc., but you don't need to interact with the app much (ever?) after that. I don't believe the Reolink app requires any internet access, but I'm not 100% sure about that. If you want to deny a camera access to the internet, you...

    BIG Owl on my Trail

This is from my BI installation at work: Hawk Drives Prey Into Window, 09/11/25 I'm not sure if this is a new hunting technique, but it works! We heard a mighty "thump" from inside our building, and saw the birds on the ground. If you watch to the end of the video, you'll the hawk bump...

Re-lighting my Table Top Fire Pit--WHOOSH!!!! I bought a few of these Houswise Table Top Fire Pits and filled them with glass fire beads and 100% isopropyl alcohol. They burn very nicely, with no smoke or odor! But beware when refilling them. The glass beads and the fire pit itself get...

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

Looks like you need to enable RTSP in the Reolink app: On the Reolink app, click on the Settings, then on the camera name, then Network Information, then Advanced, and turn on all the optional features:

    Blue Iris UI3

Yup! That would all match up. I would see this pop up if I was scrubbing or using the +/- 10 second buttons. I would seldom see it when clicking the left/right arrow buttons. And nearly always in Timeline view. Along with the clip export bug that he fixed last year, BI/UI3 is now Very Good...

    Blue Iris UI3

I'm not sure which of the recent updates did it, but this problem seems to have gone away. I haven't seen "The video stream was lost. Attempting to reconnect..." message in quite a few weeks, and I'm now current on 5.9.9.64 on all 3 installations that I manage. Over the past 2.5 years this bug...

Stack video frames to enhance face and catch Truck Thief?

. . . although I am curious as to how my system doesn't detect this plate (Spectrum Internet service truck, so I don't care about their privacy!): That's scaled down to 1/2 its original size, but it should be a pretty much perfect night-time capture candidate, don't you think? The truck...

    BIG Owl on my Trail

Coyote with Prey on Thoroughbred Trail, 07/14/25 Can anyone tell what he's carrying? It's too big to be a squirrel or rabbit, but it also doesn't look like a cat or dog. A peafowl would be the right size, but the legs don't look like bird legs:

    Amcrest or EmpireTech

Another option is to buy the Amcrest cameras and then build a Blue Iris system from an old renewed PC. My ex bought an NVR-in-a-box, and it sucked. She couldn't use it. I walked our son through building her a BI system from a $200 PC, and it's much better, plus it will work with a much wider...

Upgrading my machine - P cores and E cores?

Ugh. That model doesn't seem to be available anymore, either at amazon or at any other reputable refurb retailer. It was just too good to be true. I was thinking of buying 2 more, to replace older i7-6700 Dells that I could then hand-me-down for other, less-demanding applications when Win10 goes...
