    Strange Admin Accounts

Here's a thread where someone else had the same issue recently. https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/is-my-dahua-dvr-being-hacked.85739/ Whether the NVR or cameras are still compromised or if the random admin accounts are just a remnant of a past compromise, is anybody's guess. There's no simple way...

    Strange Admin Accounts

Finding accounts like that is almost certainly a sign the devices were compromised. The most common way for such devices to be hacked would be from having them at some point exposed to the internet via UPnP or NAT-PMP or port forwarding. However if they're connected to a cloud service for...

    Blue Iris UI3

Well in that case I doubt there's anything I can do in UI3 to work around this. Sounds like an iOS bug.

    Blue Iris UI3

Ok yeah, as expected then. Bottom of the UI is missing, like the status section and presumably also the playback controls. Is it possible to scroll down (via touch and drag) to see the rest of it? You might have to start your touch in the top bar tabs or left side bar in order to scroll down...

WindowsNetTool - A Swiss Army knife of Windows network configuration tools.

I've updated this app to version 1.3 and implemented most of my planned tools already (the tool list is on the left of all the screenshots). I'm going to get a lot of use out of this I think, and I hope others find this helpful. Also I realized I forgot to include a link to the github project...

    Blue Iris UI3

That is really weird indeed. Is the entire UI shifted down like that or only the video? Your screenshots seem to be in fullscreen video mode.

    Blue Iris UI3

Is it just zoomed in so you could pinch to zoom back out? I have noticed some issues with the default zoom level not appearing to stick when a browser is resized, which is essentially what happens when you rotate a phone. I never figured out the exact cause though.

WindowsNetTool - A Swiss Army knife of Windows network configuration tools.

I spend a fair amount of time doing Windows network configuration and I've got a few nitpicks about the built-in interfaces in Windows. I think anyone would be frustrated after locking themselves out multiple times from a remote machine because you changed it from DHCP to static addressing and...

UI3 doesn't switch to main stream when viewing single camera (Live View and Timeline)

I don't know. It has been this way for a very long time, and the reasons may be lost to history. Intuition says it is a dropdown list in order to provide a set of predefined options, and it is fully text-editable because predefined options are insufficient to meet the needs of all users. I...

UI3 doesn't switch to main stream when viewing single camera (Live View and Timeline)

We don't really know when or how the issue occurred but I think it is almost certainly a consequence of running a buggy version of Blue Iris at some point. Thing is I personally run most BI releases at least briefly and it hasn't happened to me.

UI3 doesn't switch to main stream when viewing single camera (Live View and Timeline)

I've emailed Blue Iris support about this to see if they'll consider detecting bad Size values and automating a fix. Perhaps in a future BI update this issue will stop affecting people.

UI3 doesn't switch to main stream when viewing single camera (Live View and Timeline)

Here's what is going on: IP camera sub streams are usually at an incorrect aspect ratio such that if the video is played without scaling, it looks squished. Anamorphic scaling is required in order to make it look correct. So when Blue Iris discovers a sub/main stream relationship for the...

    Blue Iris UI3

This is implemented in UI3-329. You can install it manually or wait for it to be included in a later Blue Iris patch.

    Blue Iris UI3

I'm adding another setting to let you scale UI3's icon overlays because these things are rather large. Then I'll release it today as UI3-329.

I have claude working on it now. We'll see how it goes.

    Blue Iris UI3

The icons in that first screenshot are added by Blue Iris, baked directly into the video stream only when camera names are shown in group settings. Because without the camera name, you have no title bar, and Blue Iris is not coded to overlay those icons without the title bar. UI3's settings >...

Web viewer scrubbing 480p vs 720p and above.

Issue is fixed in UI3-328 which you can install manually or get in a later Blue Iris update.

Web viewer scrubbing 480p vs 720p and above.

Most likely the lower resolution is fast because the recorded sub stream is being used (which is a lot faster to seek in, being lower resolution and bit rate). I just checked and UI3's "Seek with Sub Stream" setting is NOT applying to timeline seeking, which I would call a definite bug. I am...

latest 6.0.8.1 runs terribly slow on UI3 compared to 6.0.6.9

I just tested 6.0.8.1 and yes the timeline playback is extremely broken. Using the timeline through UI3 for even a few seconds caused (1) for the video to stall for 10+ seconds, (2) for Blue Iris to crash, (3) for the Blue Iris service's next startup to not work correctly -- the clip list...

Blue Iris server local view laggy

Doesn't matter if it is an SSD (they're fast enough). Doesn't matter much if it is an HDD (they're just laggy).

I have a situation that I would like any of you network gurus to consider

Extend mode typically will limit bandwidth to 10 Mbps I think. So you may need to reduce bit rates and ensure that only one thing is pulling video directly from the camera. An alternative would be to try something like a poe extender at a convenient point near the middle of your 100ft cable...

I have a situation that I would like any of you network gurus to consider

That is puzzling. It feels like your connection might be marginal on the long cable, and the old camera either doesn't require as much power or bandwidth or both. As for what changed, who knows. I assume this was a very sudden failure without gradually growing instability in the weeks or...

Choppy HLS stream in Home Assistant (UI3 smooth) – recent change?

An HLS stream should in theory be smoother than most streaming in UI3 because it isn't trying to do low latency, so it might not be coded to be so eager to drop frames. But yes the startup delay is huge because BI needs to fully encode one or two chunks of video which will be as long as the...

Choppy HLS stream in Home Assistant (UI3 smooth) – recent change?

Not that I know of. Default streaming 0 encoder settings should be fine (but you'll want to assign a more useful bit rate target probably). Not that I know of, but HLS is not commonly used with Blue Iris so it does not get a lot of attention. I do think Blue Iris's RTSP server is generally going...

    Blue Iris UI3

What exactly are you asking? Blue Iris is not designed to record audio separately. This setting in UI3-325 (released 13 days ago) is what I was referring to, which lets you open MP4 clips in a new web browser tab in order to bypass the limitations of Blue Iris's MP4 streaming. The setting is...

    Blue Iris UI3

As far as I can tell, Blue Iris just doesn't honor the aspect ratio that UI3 requests anymore for timeline group video. I don't remember when this broke. It seems fine in 5.9.9.98, 6.0.1.8 and 6.0.4.4 but broken in more recent versions. If you want to contact Blue Iris Support they should be...
