bidens incredible transition to electric cars

Those older chargers were just a transformer and a diode, i.e. half wave rectifier, which the flooded lead acid batteries apparently tolerate quite well. Now we have computers and highly regulated clean DC in the chargers, which most of the newer battery technologies need. But, what a mind...

    US Elections (& Politics) :)

Why don't claims like this give at least a little bit of how or why the action caused a problem.? Surely launching from a different spot on the white house grounds couldn't make the difference between the aircraft being too close or not. Under current rules, non-government departures and...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Correct. I have a 6mm HDW5459TM-ASE-IL, side-by-side with a 6mm T541-AS-S3 in order to make head-to-head comparisons. I also have a -PRO, but with no way to make good comparisons.

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

You hit on another way the some insurance companies are lining their pockets. I'm "stuck" in an F plan when I'd rather be in a G plan. The reason: The annual premium for F with my company is substantially higher than their premium for their G plan plus the ~$300 deductible. A few years ago I...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Speaking only for the fixed focus turret versions: 1. Smaller than the PRO. Same ball size as the 5442 fixed focal. 2. Available in 6mm version, which the PRO is not.

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

When I had to make the decision and saw how the advantage plans worked, I signed up for traditional medicare and a gap plan. The biggest factor was the restriction on what doctor I could go to. It was more intuition than fact based. I was pretty much totally healthy and with no prescriptions...

bidens incredible transition to electric cars

I totally forgot to mention that I have a gadget called a desulfator that I run on my AGM battery bank, which I occasionally switch over to in the solar system. It sends out a burst of high frequency pulses about once a second, which is supposed to make the bad stuff fall off the lead plates...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

I think that this video is a good demo of the much improved dynamic range I also see in the -IL. Based on my observations, with an S3 the bright flowers would be an even brighter big blob, and between that and the light next to the door, the camera would reduce brightness leaving the cat darker.

At a higher level, does that say anything about the PRO sensors vs. the 5442?

Hey, you can't deny he keeps the enemy guessing about what's going to happen. Everybody else, too.

    US Elections (& Politics) :)

I can give two first-hand examples about the medicare prescription drug mess. A local to me orthopedic practice uses a one-time injection as part of treatment for Dupuytren's Contracture. It's an ounce or two of liquid, and the price paid by medicare had been about $6,500. The orthopedic...

    US Elections (& Politics) :)

Some facts about Trump "ending" the medicare part D subsidies. It's looking like there's a full-court press going on right now in the media and on the Internet to save the program, which at its origin was intended (they say) to be temporary. The press articles and memes hardly ever, if ever at...

You're close to totally correct., with one exception that was what led to my "edge of settings" comment. The inverter low cutout voltage maximum setting is 48 volts, and I wanted to set it higher. From the charts I've found, 48 volts on a 16 cell LFP battery is about 10% charge. Your making...

bidens incredible transition to electric cars

I't's a big iron Outback inverter/charger that can run standalone or sell to the grid. Just a small system, 8 kW solar and 3600 watt inverter, but when the grid is out it handles everything we need except for the heat pump and electric dryer. At installation time the inverter was at the front...

bidens incredible transition to electric cars

I'm being bipolar and both agree and disagree. On an upfront purchase, disagree. On a longer term basis, agree. I sourced 21 kWh of LFP from china, 4 years ago, on a promotional deal. The cost of the cells, BMS, case and shipping was $4600. Adding to that things like new cables, enclosure...

bidens incredible transition to electric cars

Having used a battery-backed solar system for 15 years, I've eagerly followed the battery technology. Over and over there's an announcement about a new breakthrough in something like capacity, safety, charge rate, etc., followed by whatever the breakthrough is, slowly fading away. Someday the...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

I pay extra for a family doctor who does not accept insurance. He gets to spend more time with his patients, and doesn't get bribed and manipulated by the insurance and drug companies. The whole traditional medical system is so screwed up that it appears to be beyond repair. It used to be the...

    US Elections (& Politics) :)

I already addressed this, but since you're done with me I won't repeat it. Yes, the American people are hostages. You just want to surrender and keep shoveling more money to big pharma and the insurance companies to stop the short term pain, and to hell with the long term.

bidens incredible transition to electric cars

I should have more carefully worded my comment about wanting to know the range of the 5 minute charge. I'm wondering if this is really a big step forward, or if it's just the company optimizing the charge time at the expense of other things, just to be able to advertise the 5 minute charge? It...

Instead of, or in addition to percentages, it would be meaningful to know the distance the car can go on a 5 minute charge.

    Lightning....

I've rationalized going the lazy route, self-insuring the cost of damaged cameras and POE switch against the cost and work of installing surge protectors, plus the added reliability risk of adding more connectors. So far it has worked out well, but the economic calculation may have tilted some...

Remember the Launch of Windows XP?

Almost 2 hours long? Who would sit through that other than nerds and the poor souls forced to by their employers? I had been on NT 4.0 for years, so XP wasn't much of a culture shock. Never saw the intervening 98, 2000, or ME.

    2026 New Release from EmpireTech

I'll throw out an S3 vs. IL video. The cat is 75 feet from the 6mm camera and isn't a very good subject, it's all I have right now while this discussion is hot. These are recorded from screen captures, and for nitpicking the image I wonder how much BI, UI3, and the screen capture are polluting...

I believe that most camera users use the built-in IR light, so your using it provides valuable information that I can't. This is one place where there will be a difference between 2.8 mm and 6 mm. I wonder if Dahua uses different IR lenses for the different focal lengths? When I have used the...

Since you're the only other person here with a -IL, perhaps we can compare notes and help with better settings. My setup is unconventional in a few ways, and I don't make absolute judgments, but have always compared images with a side-by-side S3 over the past 9 months. I estimate I've made in...
