    Notes from the Swamp

When I look at these vids I always think of the Disney Jungle Cruise. Add a couple of animatronic features to your resident leathery neighbors and you will have nailed it! Maybe you and the missus could dress like the JC guides for your human neighbors and passers by?

At first I thought, the electric company must love you. Then I saw the solar panels.:p

Dahua vs Luminys differences: 100% rebranded or more like 85%?

Perhaps installers should at least be able to fulfill the requests of customers that may request Ubiquiti. It seems to me that they are at least partly, marketing themselves as the high-end alternative to the big box brands. You know, branding... blah, blah, blah.

Lighting in a narrow side yard

Attach flat black panels, plastic or whatever you like, to the sides of the light fixture to control the light pattern. ("Barn doors" and "flags" are used on professional lighting equipment.)

Camera suggestions for outdoor, no power, no sun, no internet?

I saw this thread and that one on the day they were posted. I found it interesting to have requests regarding such unusual cases at the same time!:)

Dahua vs Luminys differences: 100% rebranded or more like 85%?

I think I would factor in to my decision-making for a business the matter of Foxlink being "Taiwan-based", due to the ever tenuous China/Taiwan situation

Holy crap, $450 for a WD purple 10TB drive now!

I had the same happen on a smaller scale. 4TB Purple at the typical old price $99 at the end of December. Decided to bite the bullet and grab another for $150 a month later when prices first jumped. Price right now is $210. And memory cards? Fugitaboutit.

I want to mount Cable Glands Facing Upward - Yes? No?

Oh! Yes, under eaves, but I understand it is still an obvious risk, especially over time. Just have to hope no one will spontaneously go for for a cable.

I want to mount Cable Glands Facing Upward - Yes? No?

I will mount some camera junction boxes at 7' to 8' feet high, not out of reach, with the cable dropping from above. To make it a bit more difficult for wise-guys to easily mess with a cable I thought would position the junction box port and cable gland pointing straight upwards to place it...
