Yes, it is slower. I think the added sensor noise is a contributing factor in its detection, or lack of. For me the decreased IR range, when compared to the S3, is what made me switch back to the S3's. -

PTZ5A4M 25X PTZ Delay when commanding.
Interesting... I put a stopwatch on it to see the response time of the PTZ5A4M-25x. Using the camera GUI, it took 1.26 seconds to respond, but in SmartPSSLite it took only 0.74 seconds, so you are correct. :rolleyes: -

I have a PTZ5A4M-25x and 49225, but I use a NVR with POE. Yes, the PTZ5 is much slower to respond. I don’t have an answer as to why it lags, but I assume it is normal behavior. -

One additional suggestion, if I may… When you are planning your camera setup, model it in the way you would setup a sprinkler system for the grass around your home. How often do you move cameras?
I am constantly swapping out cams (or adding more). It is less of a science (getting the best quality image) as it is a game (to see if I can improve it). Always fun to capture something amazing: wildlife, police arresting someone, an unexpected wild storm, etc.- tmxv4128

It depends, do you want/need smart IR? That is the most current update for the camera with smart IR. There is a newer firmware (2/27/25) that has no smart IR. I am running on my 6mm 5442-S2 (General_IPC-HX5XXX-Volt_MultiLang_PN_Stream3_V2.840.0000000.26.R.231221) no smart IR. -

NVR Suggestion
I actually have both of the NVR's you listed above. For me, the S2 wasn't a noticeable upgrade from the 2EI. I agree with Wittaj's recommendation. The 4M-T would be the wisest choice. I have replaced my 54IR's with 4M-T's, and while my T54Pro might make a good door stop, it pales in comparison to the 4M-T and 54IR. -
