    Blue Iris in a VM.

You would have to find a guide somewhere. It involves flashing new firmware onto it.

    Blue Iris in a VM.

Depends on what you want to use it for. I think a lot of SAS controller cards are in "RAID" mode by default, meaning they want to be a hardware RAID controller. If you want to use a software RAID or something like the ZFS filesystem, then you need to flash "IT mode" firmware onto the card...

    Version 6

Not true actually. You can install the 6.0.0.0 update on 5.9.9.9x and keep on updating from there without running a full installer. I doubt you'd run into problems. At the same time, I wouldn't recommend this path. Better to do the fresh install and copy over any UI3 local overrides stuff...

    Tail Scale VPN

Perhaps a poor choice of words on my part. Tailscale certainly does not require a port to be forwarded, but it does help it to achieve direct tunnels faster. Some routers let you limit UPnP to be usable by specific LAN IPs but not by everything on your LAN, which is nice.

    Tail Scale VPN

Tailscale also can require a port to be forwarded for best performance/reliability. Although usually it does this by itself via UPnP (if the router owner did not turn that off) or through UDP "hole punching" through your NAT (and the ISP's NAT if you have CGNAT). But with some kinds of NATs...

    Dahua SD49225T-HN PTZ repair log

When I've had to repair these connectors in the past, I used an RJ45 keystone jack available at most hardware stores. Seems a lot easier than soldering. Of course the connector is not as easy to weatherproof after that. The SD49225T-HN had/has lots of reliability problems in my experience...

Amcrest Blue Iris 5 on eBay

That will work for Blue Iris 6. The title and picture are just out of date. The transition to Blue Iris 6 is seamless as far as licensing goes. You get to install any version released before the end of your "maintenance plan," and for a new license the maintenance plan ends 1 year after...

    Blue Iris in a VM.

Passthrough slightly improves efficiency. There is less overhead for read and write operations, which results in theoretically higher speed. And also if you need to move the disk to another machine it will just work. Whereas if you use a virtual disk it will not be readable in another machine...

    Blue Iris in a VM.

I can confirm in Proxmox passing through any physical disks does appear to prevent taking normal snapshots of the VM even if the VM's boot disk is a normal virtual disk. Supposedly you may still be able to snapshot the virtual boot disk via command line but I have not confirmed that. If you...

Trouble accessing BI when on public or other wi-fi (using tailscale)

Since you have tailscale you should be using the tailscale address to connect to Blue Iris, and then when it doesn't work from some location it is almost certainly because Tailscale is unable to establish a tunnel for some reason.

Trouble accessing BI when on public or other wi-fi (using tailscale)

Uncheck Bind Exclusively. That is probably your entire problem. It makes it so Blue Iris will only accept connections coming in to the address you have selected in the LAN box. I'm honestly not sure what the "Remote, external" WAN address field is for. You can ignore it. Also to help...

You are supposed to download the full installer from Blue Iris by Perspective Software LLC | Video Security and Webcam Software and install Blue Iris 6 that way.

Not me hehe. I bug Ken about too much stuff already I think.

    Unusual camera codec configurations

I don't know anything about how Scrypted does things, but I see their documentation lists the recommended minimum CPU for Windows as Intel 9th gen. Funny enough they don't actually say "Intel" there which tells you they expect to have a fairly tech-literate audience. The bizarre thing is they...

BI won't start after latest update!

What error do you get when you launch Blueiris.exe (e.g. from the shortcut on your desktop)? Did you do a fresh install to get BI 6? Did 6.0.0.0 work? If 6.0.0.0 worked, you should be able to download the update file for it which I shared a few posts up from here, run that, and then you'll...

    Version 6

Oh you can definitely still assign a value in that box. Since years ago Blue Iris will automatically adjust the value up if it detects a frame rate that is higher than currently set. Which happens occasionally if something stutters. However it will not adjust the value back down. It does...

I uploaded the update installer for 6.0.0.0 here so you can try downgrading. https://ipcamtalk.com/downloads/blue-iris-6-0-0-0-64-bit-update-file.146/

    Unusual camera codec configurations

CBR (constant bit rate) is where you assign a bit rate target and the camera tries its best to produce the video stream at that bit rate regardless of everything else. The bit rate directly affects file size, bandwidth usage, etc. Higher bit rate yields higher video quality. It is pretty...

    BI6 and Home Assistant - server_all_cameras gone

Sounds like it was the result of the capitalization change.

    BI6 and Home Assistant - server_all_cameras gone

Do you remember what your BI version was before that? They recently renamed the all cameras group from "Index" to "index" (first letter was capital, now lower case) so the integration might need updated to accommodate.

Wrong scaling in Blue Iris 6 UI (Windows Server 2022)

Remote Desktop tries to have the remote machine use the DPI scale of the local machine that is running the Remote Desktop client. The DPI setting can get "stuck" on the remote machine particularly I think if you just close the connection without logging out. I don't use Remote Desktop to...

    Blue Iris in a VM.

Yes Blue Iris can use multiple cores pretty effectively but you lose quite a lot of single thread performance going to that lower TDP part and that will likely make certain tasks like web streaming 4K video suffer -- BI is already not great at that if you aren't using direct-to-wire. Check the...

    Version 6

Yes, absolutely the CPU usage went up. Not to the extent you saw. One VM I updated today had Blue Iris at 21-26% CPU running BI 5.9.9.5 (about a year old). This above was with the local console open, just before it went down for the update. Unfortunately this is all the CPU usage data I...

Wrong scaling in Blue Iris 6 UI (Windows Server 2022)

I wonder if this only happens on systems with DPI scaling set above 100%. None of mine are, and I have not seen the issue yet.

    Blue Iris in a VM.

Xeon E5-1630 v3 is quite a weak CPU, easily matched or beaten by mobile/embedded CPUs with 5-10% of the TDP. Definitely measure its power consumption at idle and with a full load. I bet a server based on that with a couple hard drives will be at least 70 watts at idle. Earlier this year I got a...

    Problems archiving footage since 5.9.9.9

V is full, yes, but D is also full and overallocated which is why E is failing to move things to D. If D is also exclusively used by Blue Iris then Blue Iris probably lost track of some of its own clips, hence the overallocation. Either way I recommend reducing the D allocation by another...

    Blue Iris in a VM.

Blue Iris is pretty good about supporting older Windows, and will run fine on Windows 10 now and for the foreseeable future. I still have a 5.9.9.73 copy running on Windows 7. CPAI certainly should be able to use the GPU if passed through to the VM that is running it, and yes, a side benefit...

Anyone get Blue Iris working with Wyze 3 Beta Firmware that adds RTSP Support?

Did you follow all the instructions they provided? The stream path in your screenshot does not even match what they said to use (although further down in their instructions they do omit the trailing / themselves so it is probably fine)
