BI 6.0.2.7 - very odd alert behavior

Yes, I had enabled periodic scanning (and checked the box to "ignore static objects detected during periodic scanning" ) a day or two prior, in an effort to cut down on other false detections of truly static vehicles shown as moving. I seem to have fixed that with this combination, but...

BI 6.0.2.7 - very odd alert behavior

I tried updating BI to 6.0.2.7 (from 6.0.2.6) yesterday, but wound up reverting in about 5-10 minutes as it was acting very odd with the alerts. The version notes indicate that it added "AI object counting", and associated Macros, but little in further explanation or suggestions for how to use...

Blue Iris Version 6.0.1.24 Now Supports Custom Models

I'd suggest sending this info (JPEG And .DAT file) to support (Ken) at BI. He needs samples to show that whatever he changed about 2 minor releases back has flipped the situation around for the worse.

    Blue Iris on Linux

I agree that WinBoat looks like an interesting project that could simplify running (some) Windows apps under Linux (probably better than Wine), but yeah, running BI in there just sounds very likely to be slow. Too many layers of "box inside a box" virtualization for something that needs near...

Blue Iris Updates - Official Thread

You do know that this thread is really meant to be just the automated script/bot giving us the update info notes, right? Manually posting "another beta is up" isn't needed.

Blue Iris Version 6.0.1.24 Now Supports Custom Models

Seems like 6.0.2.3 may have only been released for a few hours, 6.0.2.4 was the only available "new" release yesterday afternoon for me. In any case, I am now seeing essentially the opposite problem: static (parked) vehicles being identified as moving; although it might be partially due to...

BI6 AI detects object but still reports "nothing found"

Keep in mind that even your canceled alerts will all have a minimum duration of the 15-18 seconds you specified, so it will use slightly more storage per day than a shorter analysis time, but I haven't found this to be a problem as long as you keep false triggers down to some reasonable number...

BI6 AI detects object but still reports "nothing found"

Yes, that should work (I am assuming that boat isn't one of the named objects, but you might want to double check, or use something like giraffe). Your settings now basically mimic my own, with 3 seconds of pre-trigger, and 15 seconds of post-trigger analysis.

BI6 AI detects object but still reports "nothing found"

The break time is not directly related to AI analysis time, it is a separate consideration. In your screenshots, you effectively have 2 seconds of pre-trigger analysis (6 x 333ms) and AT MOST 6 seconds of post-trigger analysis (18 x 333ms), but subject to shorter (less time post-trigger) if AI...

Blue Iris Version 6.0.1.24 Now Supports Custom Models

Please send your details (DAT files and JPEGSs), as well as your description of the problem, along to support (Ken). The more examples he has, the more likely he can sort it out.

Blue Iris Version 6.0.1.24 Now Supports Custom Models

The responses from Ken: "Thanks for sending that over. The update was not squarely aimed at solving this ... this is something else. Since you are not running periodic scanning and/or not selecting to ignore static objects, othering should be marked as static ... but we see EVERYTHING is...

Blue Iris Version 6.0.1.24 Now Supports Custom Models

I did send an email to Ken late last night showing another canceled alert with the DAT file and multiple JPEGs of the object motion from the relevant intervals (T+0ms, T+1000ms, T+2000ms, etc...). Hopefully this is useful info for him and fingers crossed that I hear back.

Same here...someone needs to send yet another email to Ken telling him it still needs work :(

Built-in AI not detecting (DEBUG ATTACHED)

Interesting, I installed 6.0.2.2 about an hour ago and have already seen instances where I'm still getting false "occupied" cancelled clips where there is clear and obvious vehicle movement in relevant zones. Ugh...we are still not there yet, even if I thought I had tuned the timings to avoid...

Built-in AI not detecting (DEBUG ATTACHED)

Have you actually tried changing the time between each analysis to a minimum of 750ms (or 1 second) for this specific camera with a view of an entryway? This is a particularly difficult view, with most of the motion happening in the parallel (or "head-on") direction, making it even more...
  16. J

Built-in AI not detecting (DEBUG ATTACHED)

Your timings between each analysis are too closely spaced, thus not properly identifying the motion between each "frame" of analysis. Try changing that setting to every 750ms or even 1 second for relatively slow moving objects like people. Somewhat of a "known issue" with the version of AI...

Using a mask for motion detection but have AI analyze entire scene?

Your 50ms timing is much too fast for relatively slow moving objects like people, the AI won't see sufficient motion between each analysis and will thus cancel as a static object. Try at least 500ms, or preferably 750ms or 1 second between each analysis. Yes, it's true that the checkbox for a...

Using a mask for motion detection but have AI analyze entire scene?

I have the opposite experience with Dahau (in-camera) IVS: it is unbelievably accurate at night, often finding distant people deep in the shadows that BI motion detection could never hope to find, and the AI would likely reject even if the BI motion detection did pick them up. Unfortunately, I...

Using a mask for motion detection but have AI analyze entire scene?

Yes, you need at least another zone that covers the rest of the scene (I use "G" for general), then trigger on the "A" zone, but have AI analyse both zones. (A and G). See the BI help file for various combinations of syntax for zone crossings.

Blue Iris Version 6.0.1.24 Now Supports Custom Models

Following from the sidelines with great interest. On my system (i5-8500, 16GB RAM, integrated UHD graphics 630 only), Bi definitely struggles more with more than 4 max connects in the general AI configuration (I find that 2-4 seems to be about optimal, with no significant difference between the...

Blue Iris Version 6.0.1.24 Now Supports Custom Models

Fascinating...I've wondered the same thing about that potential paradox, but it's slightly disturbing that Ken isn't completely sure either. If he doesn't know...well who does? At least you have succeeded in making him aware and thinking about it.

    Periodic Scan

Yes, I had seen that too. It's a shame it is worse than before, but I suspect you might be better positioned to persuade him of that than the average user, given your experience in this area.

    Periodic Scan

OK, it's great to hear that someone with significant experience with the AI models agrees, but some questions remain. Why does the BI (built-in) AI respond so differently compared to CodeProject AI in this regard? I essentially never had this issue with CPAI.
  24. J

    Periodic Scan

I've seen this too, even with periodic AI scanning turned off: my temporary/provisional workaround has been to lengthen the timings between each AI scan. I was originally running either 333ms or 500ms timings, but I am primarily concerned with detection of people and slow moving (in the process...

Critical Linux Warning: 800,000 Devices Are EXPOSED

Many older all-in-one routers used to include Telnet access, and some gave the option of LAN only or LAN + WAN. Most producers came to their senses long ago, but there may still be some configured that way and still in service.

Blue Iris Version 6.0.1.24 Now Supports Custom Models

I agree with the helpful comparison between the YOLOv8 and YOLOv10 for the most part, except in my case YOLOv10 seems to run slightly slower (on an Intel i5-8500 with integrated graphics 630). Distant/small object detection seems a bit worse with v10, often taking longer to detect until they...

Wow, it must have been added in the last few days, as it wasn't part of the last round of additions and changes (to the aimodelpack) on 01/24/2026. Thanks, testing now.

Thanks, those are impressive analysis times: which NVIDIA card is that? I'm making the assumption that no onboard (motherboard) GPU could achieve those times.
