Football field security -- camera layout/design

We do have this one customer that went full into Verkada security & IP camera systems. They have a 4 way dome camera (over $4,000 for this sucker) but is 500' distance. The customer wants to try out these supposedly new network data cable he saw on the internet that can go far father than the...

Football field security -- camera layout/design

As much as I love DIY projects and goals, this really sounds more like a commercial project rather slapping a driveway camera at home and figuring out Blue Iris afterwards. Cat6 cables will have to be ran. I assume, underground through conduits. Possibly even fiber optic cabling if no remote...

How would you do this install, that has a 3 ft crawl space?

I know months old topic, but wanted to throw my 2 cents in. For the folks that come across this in Da Future. 1.) If have to make a pathway through poured cement, you have to use a masonry bit. Yes, you can get a 12" long bit and attach to your Milwaukee or DeWalt hammer drill but that is a...

Dahua Product Availability in the U.S. ends December 31, 2025

I fear this administration thinks NDAA has something to do with non-disclosure agreements instead of being related to drones/IP cameras and will not even be touched upon during the meeting. Tariffs & general trade will be the talking points.

Camera recommendation for a wide area

I ran 5 burial rated Cat6 cables in a 8" depth trench out to my light post. 1 of the Cat6 I am using for the 24vdc bulbs for the lamp post. Other Cat6 is in my falling apart birdhouse (had taken a beaten with these 50mph gusts with rain and snow over the years). This camera does not point...

Would appreciate guidance on camera install locations

Me...personally: Walkout Basement Door gets a Dahua IPC-T54IR-ZE. Deck Door gets a Dahua IPC-Color4K-T180 4K Full-Color Side Door corner gets a Dahua IPC-T54IR-ZE If wanted driveway: a.) immediate area gets a IPC-Color4K-T180 4K Full-Color if only worried about 10-20' distance and 180...

Would appreciate guidance on camera install locations

What I have learned with IP cameras in my time with IPCT and my own venture down the DIY security camera road... Sensor size of a camera matters for it's purpose. By default, I think of 1/2.8" for daytime / well lighted areas only. Can it see at night? Sure. Could you tell if it was your...

Dahua: all in one answer for home security?

Again... most everyone here at IPCT are DIY persons in their own right. It's why we are all here! :) The originating realm of this post is for the general public who do not or will not understand VLANs or Firewalls or changing passwords from 12345678.

Would appreciate guidance on camera install locations

If the primary purpose of the cameras you are looking into is for watching children... more so concerned about daylight hours? Or after sun goes down or 2:00am?

Dahua: all in one answer for home security?

Oh... I plan on offering 2 sides of the coin, just like your mentioned. Cloud vs Non-Cloud based. Just like I do with my business phone systems. Even, IP cameras for business/phones. I plan on sticking with Dahua nvr/ip cameras for residential/business and jump on the bandwagon of Unifi...

Dahua: all in one answer for home security?

Mind you... we are/were Toshiba business phone systems since the mid 1990's. Digital phone were the thing. Even in today's world, I offer both IP and digital. Telling my customers the pro's and con's of cloud/IP based dependability. vs digital non-cloud. Still, 95% go IP. I grew tired of...

Dahua: all in one answer for home security?

We are a business phone system dealer, we already deal with that. 60% of off-site IP phones and 40% local in office phones are cloud based in varying forms. Customers have accepted 'Da Cloud' dependability is out of their hands, out of my hands. Everyone blames Elon in those situations :)

You can install a lamp post at the red dot. Run underground 24vdc (if you did AC, you would have to get permit or something). I run my 24vdc lamp post on underground Cat6 cables fine & dandy for 4 years. The extra throw of a light source being that far out even using 24vdc bulbs really would...

Do you know of the DORI formula? You are asking for a 2.8mm camera of whatever sensor size to identify at 47' at night time. Not going to happen.

Dahua: all in one answer for home security?

While I personally agree with your statements, I fully understand DIY home automation and DIY home IP cameras systems are a small group of people as compared to the world at large. Sure, my free Home Assistant is doing wonders in combination with my DSC home security panel and Blue Iris & IP...

Camera recommendation for a wide area

If this camera on your garage has the ONLY purpose of seeing 10'-15' at night to IDENTIFY, T180 will work. 45' distance to cover? Not going to happen with a 2.8mm or 3.6mm (like the T180 has). We do have a PTZ3E10X-T180 at my shop we are still playing around with. Kinda love it and thinking...

Dahua Product Availability in the U.S. ends December 31, 2025

Am keeping close eye on this. Now that my low voltage cabling business is in the black, was hoping to add-in becoming an Andy Dahua (or whatever the phantom name is!) NVR/IP camera reseller/installer. Already have 3 clients lined up. Looks like FCC meeting on Oct 28th is the determination.

EmpireTech NVR / 5442 S3 Cams - Webplugin Not Functioning in Edge Browser

Had Andy ask me if the PTZ3E10X-T180 with auto-tracking actually zooms while following. Verified, that it does. But man... the web plugin issue. Just what IS the issue with monthly issues with Dahua web plugin? Which, I assume all web plugins have to jump thru hoops every time there is...

    2025 EmpireTech Product Release

I foresee a time very near in the future that cameras will see into the 5th dimension at this rate! My 65 year old future self 10 years from now just sent back this Dahua camera IPC-5D5442 image of my driveway via Microsoft's Backward time stamping email. See?

    DMSS App and IOS 26

I had a customer end of last week who could not see the "download" or "install" button on the iOS store. Had to send him in a round about fashion to Cnet to download the iOS DMSS App for some reason. Unsure if it was customer error or not.

Illegal Login - How do I stop this?

Curious. Why port forward at all? VPN is the way to go. 2nd choice, P2P. P2P has it's down sides for sure...but still better than port forwarding.

URGENT!!! There will be new DMSS 2.0 and new cloud account mode & new cloud video streaming

My work just installed a Dahua NVR NVR64CH-8XI. Without any reading of instructions, we just scanned from the P2P screen, the SR code, then the DMSS code... logged in. It was our first time using the new DoLynk system and worked without any hitches for my 2 tech's. My 2 tech's phones are...

Hmph... never knew. Sharing IP camera between 2 NVR's. How about that?

Been running Blue Iris on a machine for personal use at my house for past 5 years with IP cameras all throughout the house here & there (20+). Healthcare

Say what you will about Dems or Reps... I just wish Trump put 75% of his effort into fixing the healthcare system. Leave invading Greenland for the next president. I thought he could be the only one out of the last 8 presidents who could. I am not in the medical field. But to me, should be...
