At least after the reset it seems to work pretty much the way it’s supposed to so it’s not the same kind of mess I have seen with the UniFi cams. -

Great test, @Tinman looks perfect by day. If the LEDs act differently tonight, it’s probably the night profile quietly reenabling Smart Illumination logic in low light. That’s when the camera starts reacting to any Human in the full FOV instead of just the Tripwire zone. I am excited :D -

If Smart Illumination was really off, then the 60 sec light can only come from a leftover Smart-Illu state or a firmware bug. a quick test is to set the IVS warning light to 5 s if it still stays on for around 60s, it’s not IVS but the global Smart-Illu timer kicking in. Right? -

That’s exactly the kind of behavior I’ve seen with UniFi Protect cameras as well. The AI runs full-frame detection first, then checks if the target happens to intersect any rule or zone. In real-world angles that often means a person walking far off in the background can still trigger a light or... -

I guess, but maybe Andy can tell more? The camera’s AI is tuned to treat “Human” classifications with higher confidence than “Animal.” So when it detects a person, it may briefly activate the warm LEDs as an assist light, even without Smart Illumination or a full IVS trigger. @Tinman, just curious — when the warm LEDs came on that night, even though Smart Illumination was off in your profile. Would be interesting to see if you notice a one-second light pulse or a quick flicker right before the person leaves the frame. -

Correct me if this is wrong: ROI doesn’t apply to IVS at all – only to motion detection or exposure. For IVS, the rule itself acts as the ROI, and the AI still analyzes the full frame before checking whether a bounding box actually crosses the line or zone. Global Smart Illumination can indeed... -

Sry for confusion ROI is used only for motion detection or image exposure, not for IVS/AI events. For IVS (Tripwire, Intrusion, etc.), the rule itself acts as the ROI — the camera’s AI still analyzes the entire frame to detect and track objects, and then checks if any of those bounding boxes... -

Actually, that’s only true for older models like the 3449Pro. The WizMind 5 Series can trigger Smart Dual Light and other linkage actions directly from IVS events. The IVS rule itself acts as the ROI — confirmed in the Dahua NVR User Manual V1.0.0 (2025, Ch. 6.1.3 & 6.2.1) and the 5459HP datasheet. -

The biggest problem I have with Unifi is the integration between Access and Protect. They don’t communicate with each other the way I would expect. As a result, what is supposed to be an ecosystem creates unnecessary problems, and it no longer feels like everything comes from a single source. -

so how good is the ai and Zone based detections right now? As for me, the funcrions from Unifi AI and there whole Settings with this cams was a really poor experience. I do not want to spend month again in finding bugs in Software and be a Part of a Beta Community for Full priced products. -
