Recommended ANPR camera for residential use

I did, which is why I'm not crazy about the 700 nM range IR. For my purposes, it would have to have the 850 nM IR to be useful to me. It seems the LPR-431 EmpireTech LPR431-Z8 1/1.8" CMOS 4MP 10mm–50mm Vari-focal Starlight 4 is the only real choice, but that's close to $900. Out of my price...

Recommended ANPR camera for residential use

Unfortunately, the first 2 you list are "sold out" on Andy's site. I have three of the B52IR cams currently pulling LPR duty, but I am looking for a stand-alone ANPR setup where all info is captured by the camera and one can connect with a dedicated computer to view the info. I prefer not to...

Recommended ANPR camera for residential use

I know it's a pretty broad question to ask, but does anyone have any suggestions for an ANPR camera in a residential area. It would help to have some real-world experience to compare. I'm looking for something that can be set up as a stand-alone ANPR

EOM (End of Marketing and Sales) for 5442-S3 announced

It's all great now while there's still 5442 camera inventory available, but what happens when there's none left to buy? At some point, even the 5442 cameras everyone owns now will need to be replaced due to lifespan limits.

WTF? FCC orders a ban on the import of all new foreign-made consumer Internet routers

As soon as they mention it's about safety, it's for their safety, not ours. Little by little these types of decisions chip away at your ability to live your life as you want to.

WTF? FCC orders a ban on the import of all new foreign-made consumer Internet routers

Oh, one could always label it as an ITCD (Internet Traffic Control Device)

WTF? FCC orders a ban on the import of all new foreign-made consumer Internet routers

Hmmm.... looks innocent enough, I'm sure it won't attract attention to government. Should be easy sailing :secret:

WTF? FCC orders a ban on the import of all new foreign-made consumer Internet routers

Welp, that's quite a bit of demographics. Basically, the average Joe is screwed. If I'm not mistaken, the majority of low-cost routers destined for the residential consumer market are manufactured in foreign countries. Pretty soon, you won't be able to buy anything you can afford. You'll own...

WTF? FCC orders a ban on the import of all new foreign-made consumer Internet routers

What good will buying banned equipment do? You won't be able to sell it online cause they will ban them from eBay and other similar sites including Facebook.

Traffic Camera Captures the Ground Crumbling Below Cars at a Stoplight

Seems too perfect of straight lines not to be a man-made phenomenon. Sure looks like a culvert under that spot that collapsed

Challenging camera use case, Is it possible under $1,000

Attached is a photo or two from one of my B52IR-Z12E 2mp cameras. One is at 155 feet and the other is at close to 170 feet. Zoom is pretty much maxed out. I would guestimate that at 300 feet, the images will be close to half the size

Challenging camera use case, Is it possible under $1,000

In my opinion, the closer the camera is to the target, the better the chance of getting a good identifiable image, especially at night. Not sure if mounting a camera near the road is an option or not, but that would be the ideal installation. A bullet or PTZ camera will have a better chance of...

    Electrical Inspection Wall Of Shame

Probably only one phase of the 240 or only 120 volts. The sink is ground and the stove feed has had the ground swapped with one of the phases. That will wake you up

What is the draw to Kayaking? Too much risk involved, especially if they knew what lives there. Nature lovers. I wonder how loving they would be to come face to face with Alli? I'll stand of firm ground.

    IVS and Video Meta data?

Understood. I was just curious if both can be used together and the limitations. When I have some time, I would be curious on how to set up and display the screens with the detections with thumbnails. I presume that info (thumbnails) is written to the NVR drive(s)?

    IVS and Video Meta data?

I trying to implement the features on an IPC-B54IR-ZE. Not sure if it's an S2 or S3. I don't know if the Dahua 5216 NVR has video meta data. I haven't messed with the NVR settings, as I was trying to contain all rules to the camera to lighten the load of the NVR and maintain bandwidth

IPC-B54IR-Z4E-S3 optimisation for night time LPR

As far as I know, all of my replies were on topic if we're discussing the settings of a camera to achieve a readable license plate image. But that's fine, I'll bow out on this. Have fun

IPC-B54IR-Z4E-S3 optimisation for night time LPR

With your reasoning what's the point of having cameras at all? Anything worth something to the user will require time invested regardless. I have worked in the electronics industry most of my life and there's not much out there that doesn't require some sort of setup to meet the conditions...

IPC-B54IR-Z4E-S3 optimisation for night time LPR

Personally, it's not critical for my use to have automatic plate logging. Plate identification is really only useful in conjunction with an event, otherwise, why would an average person need it in a normal residential area? It's all about identifying and providing as much information as possible...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Yeah, 8 to 80 mm, that's a long lens. Though I suspect the mounting needs to be robust at 80mm to prevent jitter and blurry images from movement.

    2025 New Arrivals From EmpireTech

Surely out of my price range. Why would I need it anyway? It would be fun blasting the laser IR at a certain area in the neighborhood, but other than that - no real practical purpose for me
