I'm looking for another ptz but can't find anything in stock or available anymore except 8mp with 1/1.8 sensors or 1/2.8 sensors on the empire tech site or Amazon. I'm really interested in the SD6AL433XA-HNR but they are nowhere to be found. Autotracking, Long Range IR, and high focal length are what I need (with an acceptable MP to sensor size of course).

I'm guessing there is just a global shortage?

Good taste.
The SD6AL433XA-HNR is a fine camera, my favorite, but its no longer made.. Unfortunately Dahua is more interested in making toys with features that are mostly hype and no longer care about image quality.

Yeah, that's too bad. I just checked Andy's site again and one PTZ8X4M-42X-Laser 1/1.8” was available. It has been out of stock for weeks since I have been looking, so I pulled the trigger. It looks like it has everything I need except a built in mic, but I guess I can add a microseven mic it.

That would be my choice also :thumb:

Holy crap this thing is huge. And heavy. Does anyone know what ceiling mount adapter works with this camera? It comes with the wall bracket, but I want to mount it to a wood soffit. The manual does not say anything about ceiling (soffit) mounting. I have a PFB301C and PFA111, but the camera feels loose in the PFA111. The camera can screw directly into to PFB301C, but I'm not sure if this is right.

Just ask Andy about mounts. I think how you install it is more imprtant than which mount you use. Make sure to sink your bolts into studs. And be certain that your ladder or whatever support you use is rock-solid. You'll have enough to deal with balancing and supporting the camera's weight. You don't want o be distracted by what you are standing on.

I found over the years with the big ones it helps to have a buddy on a 2nd ladder

Well, yes, that would be the smart thing to do. I'm to stubborn to do the smart thing. "I can do it myself!" Famous last words...:winktongue:

I was there, but now in my late 60's I'm more willing to give up some points on my man card and ask for help
