So I'm confused - are you saying that since the SD5R404GA has a Starvis sensor, it should have better low-light capability than the PRO and 5442-S3 ... because it has a better technology sensor?
If I try to compare using Dahua's spec's (ideally should be with similar conditions), it says for Color:
0.001 @ F1.0 - SD5R404GA
0.0003 @ F1.2- HDW5459H-ZE-PV-PRO
Should be about equal to the 5442 S3

it's PTRZ cam - so dome with extra small motor used for all movement, which works only for configuration not tracking.
no auto tracking in any form...

This camera would be a good candidate to cover a front door situation like you mentioned, but really wouldn't be of good use in the open because the zoom is short
Would be great if it had at least 12X zoom, but I suspect the form factor would be a bit larger to accommodate the larger sensor and optics to make it happen
My very old Hikvision mini ptz is starting to have problems recently near the front door area. I was thinking about replacing it with this camera. I don't need auto track or high zoom for this spot as I have PTZ5A4K-25X on the other side of corner.
I also like the PTZ425DB-AT-R with the discreet Smoke Dome Cover but can't get over the 1/2.8 sensor and higher price compared to this new camera. The SD5R404GA-HNF 1/1.8" PTRZ is cheap enough to give a try and no big deal even if it didn't work out as compared to the higher price cameras.
My buddy bought the mini PTZ with the smoked cover, its even worse at night than the regular one. FYI
