but all I could find was a G5 platform firmware with version V5.7.3_211222 ... Am I not searching the right thing?

The furthest I could downgrade was to Hikvision IPCE_R_E8_EN_STD_5.7.0_210929. I tried every firmware on Annke's site, but all of them return an error. I suspect this is because they are older versions (V5.5) . Downgrading via TFTP also doesn’t work.

Does anyone have an Annke E8 firmware in the 5.7.x branch or any idea how to downgrade to V5.5?

I'm thinking of one thing you can try. Try uploading a different firmware, an older one with a similar version as you currently have.
In my case it looked like this:

V4.71.000 build 221027 (first firmware)
V4.71.205 build 230707 (update fw via nvr web administration)
V4.75.000 build 240308 (fw from support Annke. New Annke logo on startup nvr)
V4.83.006 build 240910 HiLook (first fw from HiLook nvr model update with nvr web administration. After update change hardware version from C-R-K21B2-00 to B-R-K21B2)
V4.83.006 build 240910 (fw from HiLook model)
V4.83.015 build 250212 (fw from HIK model. Update with HiTools Delivery app)
V4.83.100 build 250626 (fw from HIK model newest. Update with HiTools Delivery app)
