Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Having joined as a complete newbie only a little over 6 months ago, it has been quite a ride with all I have and still have to learn, my first 'real' camera a T54PRO-ZE, deciding on the purchase and how to install other cameras, the chip shortage, and now the threat to our router choices.

I can honestly say, it has been the best of times, it has been the worst of times...;)

I'm guessing Andy never got the new models for testing

So should we hunt the last 5442 s3's now or, look into the dual light models? I realy like the 5442 image quality, i dont need any special detection mechanisms etc. Just good night and day image quality in a varifocal bullet or turret.

No one knows how the Dual Light cameras perform at night with people. That’s why I’d go with the S3 cameras. The Pro cameras are definitely out of the question.

Yes. IMHO

I have replaced a 54PRO, 3449 TIOC PRO, and even an 5442 S3 with an older 5442 AS (S2) at my front door.

The S2 has the best image and switches to color instantly with a simple $30 1000 lumen motion flood, with a better color image than the others and an equal B&W/IR image

would love to have one of those S2 in 3.6 mm but don't see them on his site, so they must only be S3 now.

The S3 is very close, maybe just as good.
Problem for me in that specific scene is the S3 needed much more white light to switch to color at the same 0-4 to 0-5ms exposure.
That meant a hard wired flood as most of the battery floods top out at 1000 lumens and it’s not an easy place to get power to

You might have just come up with the new target Dahua tag line.... "No Special Detection Mechanisms, just Good Night and Day image quality!" - amen to that I say, not too much for one to ask. Currently for some 'Pro' cameras, the situation is somewhat different.... shortly after the break in....'Well sir, we can see the Ai confirmed it was a 'dog' that robbed you during the night, unfortunately there is no usable footage, might I suggest you encourage future criminal activity during daylight hours, preferably when it is not overcast or low light'.

Sorry, sort of a private joke, but seriously stick to the S3 models for now, maybe look at 4K series for colour, just be aware of minimum focal distance on the latter.

Thanks all for the help, i will hunt the last dutch S3 turrets then, new install is going to be >15 cameras with some Dahua IPC-HFW5442HP-ZHE 8-32's for the identify shots on chokepoints.
Are you allowed to film the entire street in the Netherlands, or do you have privacy laws there too?

no you are officially not allowed, but there is a register from the goverment where you can register your cameras facing public roads. Then they kind of tollerate it. But filming another person's private property is strictly forbidden.

In my example. 1 cam on the outside of the driveway is filming a a slight bit side hedge of neighbours, so its not a privacy problem as its just green leaves.

But for me its mostly facing own terrain, inside stables and the horses in the meadows etc. So then a couple cams extra goes fast. Also a couple for specific chokepoints zoomed way in to capture ID shots from people entering our property.

And as some said, you never have enough properly dialed in camera's ;)

We don;t have any good valid video examples/tests for the -IL series to know how they perform.

And Andy can't get them apparently.
