Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Last week I finally took my Pro outside for the first time. I just set it on top of a ladder for some testing. My target area has no ambient lighting, other than natural light or from passing cars, so I use a 10w IR, and it is about fifty feet to the road. It didn't take long for me to decide that the camera at full zoom is not up to the task of freezing passing traffic and I didn't bother to further refine the settings. I figured, better to wait for the next FW. I left the camera in place anyway.

I just learned that I had forgotten to change the IVS setting and it has been recording passing vehicles and taking snapshots, and then generating cropped images of them. Credit where credit is due; my camera is definitely trying to impress me!:p

Here's a guy impersonating a car:

edit: My first time converting and uploading a file that would be accepted was way trickier and time consuming than expected. I'm done. Sorry for not trimming it a bit.

Dahua released PTRZ domes for 5x59-PRO...

they have PTR functionality in small dome case, but it is only for configuration purposes (slow movement, no Live Tracking feature)..
The PTR functionality sounds interesting. And I don't mind slow movement and no Live Tracking. But is this mean the PTR adjustment only work 1000 times?

Pan: 0°–355°
Tilt: 0°–80°
Rotation: 0°–355°
*Remote adjustment (Max. 1000 cycles)

yes.. it's PTRZ functionality... HIK have the same limit...

in normal PTZ cams you have separate strong motors for each axis - X, Y, Z (zoom) and F (focus)..
they are designed to work 24/7 for years..

in PTRZ cams you have shared small motors - like in varifocal cams where Z (zoom) and F (focus) is supported by the same motor..
they are designed only for limited use as configuration tool..

Guessing most owners are either just living with these now or have moved them on. I still have one brand new in the box and two which are up and running, both of which will get replaced unless we have a miracle firmware fix in the next few months. They can be repurposed elsewhere I guess, doesn't make me feel that much better about them. At least the lights are good and bright :thumb:

Brand new users will buy them and not know the difference.

I'd be happy if the new fw will make things (a little bit ) better... :)
In the meanwhile, I've ordered a couple of IPC-HFW7459Z1-Z10-PV-X, and one IPC-HFW7459Z1-Z-PV-X

Be real interested in how that 10X performs

Yes, just a small improvement would be nice, seems like it will be next month at the earliest now, latter part I suspect.

Those two cameras look interesting, my beta testing days are over for a while now but I do hope these work out for you :thumb:
