Yep, and good luck trying to contact someone at eBay who can speak English. I was on the phone to complain, and it was the same old third-world, barely speak English representative with an American name. I don't know why I bother because they raise my blood pressure with their nonsense reading from a cue card.
The fees are outrageous at 15 - 20% of the total including shipping AND tax (why do sellers pay a fee on shipping and a fucking tax to eBay? Shipping for me is done outside of eBay, so I see no reason why eBay takes 15%, they provided no value for the service and to collect a fee on a tax? Fucking outrageous!), the support is non-existent and it's a monopoly.

Two things wrong with eBay's ruling as I see it:I had a listing for 3 of the same Dahua cameras removed by eBay yesterday due to national security concerns. See below for the email they sent:

What happened
Most electronic equipment used to transmit or receive signals or for surveillance are not allowed.

1) Some dumbass can't read and/or understand simple English. The FCC rule they linked states:
"Video surveillance and telecommunications equipment produced by Dahua Technology Company, to the extent it is used for the purpose of public safety, security of government facilities, physical security surveillance of critical infrastructure, and other national security purposes, including telecommunications or video surveillance services provided by such entity or using such equipment."
Your listed item(s) doesn't meet ANY of the conditions in red type above..
2) The ruling states "This determination was made using automation or artificial intelligence. This came to our attention through automated detection."
So therein lies the problem..."artificial intelligence" received some bad info or made the wrong interpretation and when a human had a chance to review it and override it, they didn't because they were too stupid to understand the FCC's use of the English language. This is a perfect example how AI will continue to cause havoc and will perpetrate the eventual downfall of many in-place systems of checks-and-balances unless capable and knowledgeable people stand up and take charge.
There's going to be a LOT of pissed off sellers if they keep using AI to make uninformed blanket decisions. Most are one step away from moving on, but there isn't a competitive site to do so, that I'm aware of
Unfortunately, the person I was speaking with from eBay barely spoke or understood English, so they just let AI make the ruling decision since they did not understand the issue. What's next, is AI going to decide if we get a life-saving operation or turn it down based on a business calculated financial feasibility decision? - never mind, I don't think I want to know

And more than likely, many are/will be receiving it. The AI implementation, terrible at that, must be very recent as I never had issues before. Going to piss off a LOT of sellers. Nothing like being cheap, inadequate, inept and chasing your core business away. I expect to see more of this in all industries.
I hope sooo much this blows up and leaves a big stink on fleabay for a long, long time so that they'll never forget how badly they screwed up.

There are justifiable reasons for the other bullet points. Some of them are FCC/legal issues. The bullet point about hidden surveillance equipment is talking about hidden cameras, e.g. the kind used to covertly record people in private spaces.

Years ago I was selling off my DVD collection of extreme Asian gore/horror and got delisted while other sellers were selling the same titles. Spoke to CSR who stated those would also be pulled yet I saw them actually sold. Never got an explanation as to why my items were singled out.

I know little of the US but are cordless telephone and radar detectrs really banned? I thought the US was the home of those devices?
Almost all UK homes have cordless phones. Radar detectors are rare but largely because over here they cost a fortune and nearly all speed enforcement is done via laser unless it's a fixed camera in which case most sat navs have gps location data.

Radar detectors are legal for use in most of the United States, but they are illegal in Virginia and Washington D.C. and are prohibited on military bases.
Cordless phones are not prohibited in the U.S. of A.
The notification by eBay in this discussion was effected by one or more eBay morons that can't find their own butt with both hands.
Am I missing something? Any reason why these are not banned by eBay today if they were a couple of days ago?

I dunno... I took a look at my Ebay account and even though there are still thousands of Hikvision listings, of the 4 cameras I had in my watchlist, 1 shows no longer available, and the other 3 show out of stock?
As you say, nothing happens quickly at a huge company like Ebay, but I suspect things are moving in the wrong direction... it'll be a real bummer if we can't easily send old cameras off to a new home when upgrading to newer models
