AI Port added to Ubiquiti doorbell

Some things I have noticed..... When adding the "Doorbell Lite" to pair with AI Port, it won't let you run it at full resolution. Limited to 2K and not 2K+.... So I guess I am getting 4MP instead of the 5MP. IR range is not great, as with all doorbells, but the cameras at the sides of my...

AI Port added to Ubiquiti doorbell

Is there any reason to add a Ubiquiti doorbell to an AI Port? I got the "Doorbell Lite" and it already has smart detections for human/vehicle/animals. Now..... I did add it to my AI Port just because I had one without anything paired but after a week of using it that way, I am asking myself...

    Unifi Protect Calculator Tool

I think on the actual device used for recording that the limit is just a "suggestion". My cloud key has been saying that the camera limit is exceeded but I have since connected another two cameras for testing and it actually let me adopt it. I was thinking it wouldn't let me add any more but...

    Upgrade Dahua Cameras.

Remove the current camera and junction box. Get a "L" shaped schedule 40 connector to go into the hole where the junction box was. Schedule 40 conduit... one end connecting to the L connector down to where you would like the camera. Mount the junction box back.... conduit going into the...

Does camera video metadata work across equipment brands?

Specialty metadata would not carry over as it is proprietary for the manufacturers ecosystem. So Dahua metadata would not be understood by Hikvision NVR. Now there are some 3rd party VMS that would have special profiles for specific brands. There is a chance that this would somewhat provide a...

    Best replacement DVR for Dahua

Alibi as far as I know is no longer selling rebranded Hikvision. They are all rebranded Uniview now.

It looks like better ONVIF support is coming to UniFi Protect

Looks like I jinxed myself saying this the other day. Yesterday it showed my network was down but all the AP's and NAS were still running. Went to check my server room and the cloudkey was showing the "fallback IP address". Unplugging the network cable from the cloudkey did trigger a reaction...

It looks like better ONVIF support is coming to UniFi Protect

I haven't tried out the G2 yet but when it comes to standalone NVR from Hikvision, Dahua and Luminys, when the detection is done by the NVR itself then you will start noticing slowdowns when switching menus and loading video streams. I imagine it would be the same for the G2. Trying to have...

It looks like better ONVIF support is coming to UniFi Protect

Yeah.... for 2K it is for resolutions up to "1440". I have a couple that were "1520" and it classified it as 4K so I had to log into the camera and lower the resolution. Then remove the camera from Protect and re-adopt it.

It looks like better ONVIF support is coming to UniFi Protect

It does seem wonky in the way it works. For me.... Using the same group of cameras, previously it said I had 6 x 2K cameras and 5 x 4K cameras. I looked at Protect today and it says 6 x 2K and 6 x 4K. Going through my list of cameras it seems it now has started classifying one of my 4MP...

    Unifi Protect Calculator Tool

Anyone try the capacity calculator tool on Ubiquiti's website? Seems vastly inaccurate. According to this my cloudkey running Network and Protect can only do five 4K cameras. Currently I have five 4K and seven 2K before it tells me it is exceeding the limit. Looking at the stats, I am not...

It looks like better ONVIF support is coming to UniFi Protect

I would say it has to do with the ONVIF profile. IVS would usually be in a different profile than motion detection. I would say motion detection would be "Profile T". IVS would be "Profile M". Then again it depends on which profiles the camera supports and whether or not there is full...

It looks like better ONVIF support is coming to UniFi Protect

As far as I know.... Basic motion detection just goes off of pixel changes in the area that is set up for motion detection. So it could be from shadows or anything. Smart motion detection they would go by the shape of the pixel changes. Most popular would be human and vehicle. So if the...

Solar Wireless Bridge 2 camera recommendations

From my experience here is what I did and used.... 2 x 100 watt solar panels (Must point them south) - Can wire in parallel or serial depending on solar charge controller. If wiring panel in parallel then you would need branch connectors which is just a "Y" adapter. Solar charge controller - a...
