Unless you are having a resource utilization issue, switching to windows server isnt really going to gain you anything. Windows server generally uses less resources than windows 11 of the same generation. But for a small implementation the difference is negligible. Win 2025 desktop experience... -

Why do so many people here dislike Wi-Fi cameras?
Wifi cameras can work in a one off scenario and as long as you have a solid wifi network. I would not reccomend and entire deployment of them but one here or there would be ok. -

Does IR Light Deter Wildlfe?
It depends on the wildlife. I've ran trail cameras in the woods for the last 20+ years. The only critters I've ever seen react are wolves and coyotes. Not sure if its the IR or if they hear the electronics though. Deer, bear, turkey, grouse, owls, fischers, Bobcats, dont seem to care- danweber1

Alert_jpeg issues
Hello, On my cameras I am using the On Alert action to send the &Alert_Jpeg via MQTT to an application to display the image of the alert. Something changed in one of the recent versions, or I changed a setting and can't find it but it now is sending 3 images for every Alert image and the file... -

New CodeProject.AI Object Detection (YOLO11 .NET) Module
It works with CPU only also, mine is running on that as it also is in a vm. I keep bouncing back and forth, I see slightly better times using code project for AI vs the now built in AI models in BI. -

The simplest is actually to bring you camera network in a separate vlan that hanged off of your router or similar upstream L3 device and use ACLs to restrict the traffic between vlans. Any reason to still have 3rd party AI now that BI have it built in?
For me running both cpai and bi in separate VMs I see faster times keeping thrm separate vs using the built in AI. I dont have the ability to do gpu pass-through on my hypervisor... -

Blue Iris CPU: Utilization, Specs.
I don't think the clock speed difference would make more than a negligible difference if you ever noticed it. Might see it watching task manager though. If it did just throw another core or two at it. I've been working in IT for 20 years and the single biggest area that impacts overall...- danweber1

Anybody else having rodents (squirrels, rats, etc.) nesting underhood and/or chewing on wiring?
I've found using Irish spring bar soap will help to deter things from under the hood. Throw a new bar in a couple of spots every fall -

HDD recommendation
If you only have a few cameras (say a dozen or less)the wd blacks and greens are just fine. Its when you start getting up in numbers for cameras where you start to notice the lower end drives cant keep up with the sustained writes. If you have more than a dozen cameras you should really start...
