    Alert_jpeg issues

Hello, On my cameras I am using the On Alert action to send the &Alert_Jpeg via MQTT to an application to display the image of the alert. Something changed in one of the recent versions, or I changed a setting and can't find it but it now is sending 3 images for every Alert image and the file...

New CodeProject.AI Object Detection (YOLO11 .NET) Module

It works with CPU only also, mine is running on that as it also is in a vm. I keep bouncing back and forth, I see slightly better times using code project for AI vs the now built in AI models in BI.

Extending a Blue Iris Network - Assistance on How to Keep Secure?

The simplest is actually to bring you camera network in a separate vlan that hanged off of your router or similar upstream L3 device and use ACLs to restrict the traffic between vlans. Im not familiar with the specific ubiquiti hardware you are using for the point to point wireless bridge but...

Any reason to still have 3rd party AI now that BI have it built in?

For me running both cpai and bi in separate VMs I see faster times keeping thrm separate vs using the built in AI. I dont have the ability to do gpu pass-through on my hypervisor...

    Blue Iris CPU: Utilization, Specs.

I don't think the clock speed difference would make more than a negligible difference if you ever noticed it. Might see it watching task manager though. If it did just throw another core or two at it. I've been working in IT for 20 years and the single biggest area that impacts overall...

Anybody else having rodents (squirrels, rats, etc.) nesting underhood and/or chewing on wiring?

I've found using Irish spring bar soap will help to deter things from under the hood. Throw a new bar in a couple of spots every fall

    HDD recommendation

If you only have a few cameras (say a dozen or less)the wd blacks and greens are just fine. Its when you start getting up in numbers for cameras where you start to notice the lower end drives cant keep up with the sustained writes. If you have more than a dozen cameras you should really start...

    Blue Iris in a VM.

I believe all of the common hypervisors out there can't do snapshots if hardware is passed through. I am using pass through for a couple of physical disks in my bi vm and can't utilize snapshots. For me this is not a deal breaker as BI is so easy to stand up and get going if the VM blew up or...

    Blue Iris in a VM.

My recommendation is to not try to do any GPU or pci pass through. It limits the hypervisor choices and adds a lot of complexity that isnt needed. You also generally cant do any snapshots of the vms also when using anything pass-through, which is very nice to have for those oh crap moments...

    Blue Iris in a VM.

Right by the time you buy something more efficient and calculate it out it might be years before you actually get the $$ back from saved electricity usage. I'm in the same boat. My sans is costing me ~$25-30 a month in electricity, but if I bought bigger drives for my server I could get rid of...

    Blue Iris in a VM.

Xeon and power saving can't be used in the same sentence. With HD capacities what they are though a couple of 8 tb drives go a long way for video systems with only a few cameras so off SFF pcs can be a thing. But if you have to buy everything and you already have the server you'd have to...

    Blue Iris in a VM.

They may or may not be. You'd have to read the eula of that manufacturer. There are ways to move the key still to another computer. Or for a small investment and peace of mind you can buy a key. Found some on ebay for under $15...

    Blue Iris in a VM.

Really depends on how many cameras you have and what your expectationsare. I have 9 cameras running in a w11 vm running on a hyper v server and have no issues. It also does open up some additional options for things like snapshots/checkpoints depending which can be handy for backups/restores...

    US Elections (& Politics) :)

Many mauser 98s were "sporterized" after ww1 and ww2 and 30-06 was a caliber that many Americans were familiar with due to its use in the war. Stocks were changed. The 30-06 is very close in specs to the 8mm that many mausers were originally chambered for so it wasn't a huge effort to convert...
