Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

I think you guys are being a bit harsh on @EMPIRETECANDY about the price increases - bazillions of products are affected. For instance, this Samsung 4TB NVMe drive is currently(!) priced at $650. I bought it 8 months ago for ... wait-for-it ... wait-for-it ... $240. That's a 170% increase ...

    2025 New Arrivals From EmpireTech

So I'm confused - are you saying that since the SD5R404GA has a Starvis sensor, it should have better low-light capability than the PRO and 5442-S3 ... because it has a better technology sensor? If I try to compare using Dahua's spec's (ideally should be with similar conditions), it says for...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

So besides ID'ing a BOBcat as a human or a bobCAT as a feline, is there ANY noticeable difference in the image quality between the .4 and .6 firmware, especially in low light with moving objects?

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Thanks @Looksee - I typically go Dahua->Products->Network Cameras->etc. ... and the Firmware is there (as a zip file) but no Release notes in that archive. I appreciate you educating me! P.S. And yes, those Release Notes are NOT encouraging ... and LOL @bigredfish on your disappointed there is...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

I downloaded the .zip file from the Dahua website for "DH_IPC-HX5XXX-Fourier_MultiLang_PN_Stream4_V3.146.0000000.6.R.260401" dates 2026_05_02 ... but didn't see any release notes/PDF? Yet-another-person interested in hearing/seeing(!) how it does in low light ...

WizColor 2.0 is coming (15 April)

While I appreciate the humor, lets keep an open mind on the new update ... albeit I would be impressed if it can truly "fix" the "Pigpen 'Cloud of Dust'" Good news is the assessment should be pretty quick with the the "Headless Horseman" (aka golf cart driver) on hot standby for testing.

Just to clarify @steve1225 since you said "01 April" ... are you "messing" with us ... or is this legit?

@bigredfish - The "Headless Horseman" (aka golf cart driver) is such a classic ... you will be posting that a decade from now! ;-)

Amen Brother on larger (and better!) sensors! ;-)

WizColor 2.0 is coming (15 April)

Does highlight "reduced motion blur", especially at the end. But yes, we'll need to see some real-life examples ... and ideally side-by-side against the 5442 and the PRO ... so see how "good" this is.

WizColor 2.0 is coming (15 April)

Ooops ... my wording was confusing as it sounds like I think it's varifocal ... but yea, I realize it's fixed focal ... just pointing out for any moderate zoom length fixed lens, DoF could be an issue. So main application may be an "area" camera with wide-angle lens with decent light gathering...

WizColor 2.0 is coming (15 April)

Ditto assuming that the 2MP are over the "entire" 1/1..8" sensor ... which seems consistent with the claim of larger pixel size. Also ditto what @steve1225 said that F/0.8 is impressive for light gathering ... but DoF could be an issue, especially at even moderate zoom lengths. In the camera...
