    T54PRO-ZE vs IPC-Color4M-TZ

The SMALLER the aperture number, the "bigger" it is ... so more light is let in ... F/1.2 is actually better than F/1.8.

Slow download speed of recordings in SmartPSS Lite

I doubt you could buy a (micro) SD Card these days that is NOT capable of at least 10 MBYTES/sec ... and therefore able to saturate the 100Mbits/sec Ethernet connection. So that is NOT a bottleneck! BTW, as someone who did the referenced post, an easy "end-to-end" test of your connection is to...

IR sensitivity differences between 5442-S3 and T54PRO-ZE ... puzzling results

I agree with all that you guys wrote above ... and yea, comparing the T54PRO-ZE and 5442-S3 using the SAME(!) settings (to see if the sensor/lens improved) may not be easily doable. Ideally (again!) shutter speed should be straightforward - in the examples above 1/10s (locked - not 0-10msec)...

IR sensitivity differences between 5442-S3 and T54PRO-ZE ... puzzling results

Here's the exact same setup after turning on BOTH onboard IR lights (with max manual settings) which adds a little bit of light to the scene.

IR sensitivity differences between 5442-S3 and T54PRO-ZE ... puzzling results

For grins, I moved the external IR illuminator to the edge of the roof ... so it's closer to the driveway and therefore more lit-up ... and I was able to increase the shutter speed to 1/10s. As before, other params are iris 100, gain 0, and NR 0 ... as I'm trying to just compare the IR...

The underlying OS must have CPU/Memory/Performance monitor - be really nice if we could see this easily!!!! P.S. I run mine at 10/15 FPS ... as I don't see a need to capture MORE images ... but I certainly want BETTER images ... ;-)

This picture is real good example of what I mean when I say that the "3D NR multi-frame averaging'" of the 54PRO may be overly aggressive ... which provides a cleaner STATIC image but would cause more motion blur. The brick, grass, etc. look pretty decent ... but several examples associated...

LOL that would be nice ... but perhaps more realistically, I would suggest @EMPIRETECANDY that you keep enlisting folks to test new firmware ... and ideally new camera's. Let me know Andy when you have that BIG SENSOR camera with an F/1.0 lens! ;-)

Remember how Dahua should hire Mrs. @bigredfish for hair testing? Now they need to hire Mr. @bigredfish for golf cart testing! ;-) BTW, that's actually a nice "moving object" test situation since I'm guessing you have a lot of golf carts go by at similar speeds. LOL @lookee with "Haunted...

IR sensitivity differences between 5442-S3 and T54PRO-ZE ... puzzling results

It's possible (but unlikely) that IF the 54PRO is LESS sensitive to IR, that in order to expose the picture properly, it has to run at slower shutter speed and/or higher gain ... which would both contribute to motion blur. So that's why I was trying to assess using locked down exposure settings...

I'm thinking that compared to the 5442, the "3D NR multi-frame averaging" of the 54PRO may be overly aggressive ... which provides a cleaner STATIC image, but would cause more motion blur ... and also when you have scene changes such as caused by fog.

Updated my previous comments/posts - "IR sensitivity differences between 5442-S3 and T54PRO-ZE ... puzzling results" This ideally should be a fairly simple test - we are just looking at exposure - not sharpness, noise, motion, etc. It's frustrating that my results were not consistent between...

IR sensitivity differences between 5442-S3 and T54PRO-ZE ... puzzling results

That's a good test @tigerwillow1 ... especially since you used the SAME illuminator to compare 'em. Would have been slightly better to have used an external illuminator so you don't have the light source right on the optical axis of the 54PRO ... but I'm looking at 'em to compare exposure .. and...

I realize probably a contrarian point-of-view ... but I'm happy with the 54PRO-ZE "upgrade" from my 5442-S3 ... but this is for MY application ... and I agree that there is certainly some "funkiness" with the 54PRO-ZE processing.

IR sensitivity differences between 5442-S3 and T54PRO-ZE ... puzzling results

So here's my night-time comparison of the IR sensitivity of the 5442 versus the 54PRO. After seeing the 54PRO being brighter during daylight (albeit probably mostly due to processing), I figured that night time would be the same ... after all photons are photons! For my nighttime test, I again...

IR sensitivity differences between 5442-S3 and T54PRO-ZE ... puzzling results

In some of the discussions about trying to get good night-time motion capture with the 54PRO's, I commented that "Is it possible that the "3D NR" on the 54PRO that (as you can imagine with something that "averages" over multiple frames) just does dismally with moving objects in low light?" and...

That's a GREAT video ... but what puzzles me is the exposure with the S3 is waayyy brighter (like a couple of stops!) than the 54PRO. Check out when you are far away ... and look at the background there. What the heck is going on if these are the same exposure?!? If so, is it possible that the...

Sorry I lost track ... but are you running 1028 firmware ... as that definitely does a better job with the with colors IMHO. Also, when you put that 54PRO back up, do a side-by-side of HLC on/off ... BTW, the grass in the foreground is a good example of what I'm calling the "shadow boost" from...

Just to be clear (and I think you are saying this), I prefer the 5442 with no HLC ... but the 54PRO with HLC=1. I.e. try comparing the T54PRO with HLC on/off ... and I assuming you are running the latest 10/28 firmware. Also, when doing comparisons, try to do as close as possible time-stamps...

I only had time for some very quick tests last night with an external IR illumintor, but comparing the "non-4" versions of those two cameras, I was a puzzled by the results (kinda along the lines of "defying conventional logic") ... so I need to do some more testing. So just letting you know...

    B54PRO-Z4E first impression

Yea, I've mentioned that the T54PRO is definitely doing some shadow boost ... but seems to be "reasonable" and not WDR'ish look. Try doing snapshots with backlight=OFF versus HLC=1 ... notice any difference, especially when there is a lot of dynamic range present.

Let me know what you think about FW1028 - again, I like it. Sharpness=80 is a LOT ... but you have a Z4, so maybe more needed with that. I saw diminishing returns above 50 for daylight stuff. Also, I noticed that Iris=65 ... and with telephoto, you'd expect less depth-of-field ... so running...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

I'm saying for THIS SCENE at THIS LIGHT LEVEL, neither camera is capable of capturing non-blurry motion without adding more (color or IR) light. However, the T54PRO-ZE is able to capture a much better static color image than the 5442-S3 ... so I think(?) it has a better sensor/lens, but based...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Here's a comparison of the T54PRO-ZE versus the 5442-S3. Obviously color (although there's a LOT more of it from the T54) with no illuminators, 50msec shutter, iris 100, 3D & 2D NR at 50. The gain is at 65 on the T54 and it is 100 on the 5442. Clearly ridiculous parameters to try to capture any...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

One more picture - same params as above ... except shutter is now at 50msec ... so again, unless someone stands still, motion capture is going to SUCK at 1/20s ... plus it's a noisy image with a bunch of NR ... so motion is a blurry mess. I'm just showing you guys the light levels I'm dealing...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Now lets go back to Color (no illuminators) and in order to get "something", we are now at 20 msec shutter, 100 iris, and 65 gain. But without NR, we've got the "dark dancing pixel" party again, so we put 3D & 2D to 50. BTW, be VERY careful going above 65 for gain (which is already waayyy more...
