WizColor 2.0 is coming (15 April)

Just to clarify @steve1225 since you said "01 April" ... are you "messing" with us ... or is this legit?

WizColor 2.0 is coming (15 April)

@bigredfish - The "Headless Horseman" (aka golf cart driver) is such a classic ... you will be posting that a decade from now! ;-)

WizColor 2.0 is coming (15 April)

Amen Brother on larger (and better!) sensors! ;-)

WizColor 2.0 is coming (15 April)

Does highlight "reduced motion blur", especially at the end. But yes, we'll need to see some real-life examples ... and ideally side-by-side against the 5442 and the PRO ... so see how "good" this is.

WizColor 2.0 is coming (15 April)

Ooops ... my wording was confusing as it sounds like I think it's varifocal ... but yea, I realize it's fixed focal ... just pointing out for any moderate zoom length fixed lens, DoF could be an issue. So main application may be an "area" camera with wide-angle lens with decent light gathering...

WizColor 2.0 is coming (15 April)

Ditto assuming that the 2MP are over the "entire" 1/1..8" sensor ... which seems consistent with the claim of larger pixel size. Also ditto what @steve1225 said that F/0.8 is impressive for light gathering ... but DoF could be an issue, especially at even moderate zoom lengths. In the camera...

    Wait until there is Pro-TRIPLE-X ... ;-)

WizColor 2.0 is coming (15 April)

Thanks for posting @steve1225 as helpful to get heads-up on stuff coming down the pipe. And thanks in advance @EMPIRETECANDY for sharing info/details when you are able to. Ditto what everyone else is saying and wants to know - is this just a software update (and if so, back-ported to existing...

WAF -> Wife Acceptance Factor Often the most important issue to consider in ... just ... about ... anything! ;-)

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

@Arjun : WRT to "dull/washed out" colors on the 4M. I don't have that, but on the 54PRO, it "boosts" the black ... so you don't have a full dynamic range - you can see this in the histogram. If you set Backlight->HLC=1 (heard this from the always smart @steve1225), and you get more dynamic range...

EOM (End of Marketing and Sales) for 5442-S3 announced

@EMPIRETECANDY - If you need a "tester" for that varifocal "ZE", my DM's are open ... ;-)

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

If you are OK posting, I'm sure there are others, besides me, that would like to know what you thought of the G6.

    Mini-Review - 5442-ZE-S3 AKA T54IR-ZE-S3 - Replacement to 5442-ZE

I've been real happy with the Tendelux UV lights - I have both the DI10 and DI20 ... so search the forums for some examples of that from me and others. I'm sure there are other lights that will work fine - that's just what I have first-hand experience with.

Ooops ... sorry @ipgem - here's the link to the forum post.

Dahua Vari-focal Bullet timed jpeg upload has heavy jpeg artefacts

Here's something I wrote a while ago about snapshots. Curious if you also see the change in dynamic range in web snapshots versus ffmpeg.

Dahua Vari-focal Bullet timed jpeg upload has heavy jpeg artefacts

Does that apply to H.264B and H.264H ... and using AI Coding?

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Now you got us excited @steve1225 with your analysis (always appreciated) suggesting (link here?) new sensor!

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

While the upload date may show 2026, I'm pretty sure the latest firmware is 12/17/2025 ... which should be "V3.146.0000000.5.T, Build Date: 2025-12-17" Speaking of which, any mention @EMPIRETECANDY of another update coming?

    2025 New Arrivals From EmpireTech

LOL that @EMPIRETECANDY is going to have to start a new "2026" thread ... ;-)

What's in the Pipeline for Dahua's 2026 Lineup?

I've read elsewhere how the G6 Pro is a "good" camera in low-light ... but based on your experience, the current crop of Dahua's cams (S3) are much better in low light?

    T54PRO-ZE vs IPC-Color4M-TZ

That's a GREAT side-by-side shoot-out ... I wish all comparisons were as good as this. The 5442 definitely appears better than the 54PRO ... not just in dynamic content (day and night) but even the daytime static content looks better to me. @wopi82 posted it in his review here where he makes...

    B54PRO-Z4E first impression

You can see the "shadow boost" in all of the images - look at the strip of grass in front of the house and the bushes in the back. As I said, have you tried Backlight HLC=ONE

    B54PRO-Z4E first impression

Here's a comparison of those two images that show the "fog" I'm talking about. Check out the golf cart, tires, grass, bushes in the back, etc. First animated GIF is your images "lined up" as discussed below - second is the originals you posted. As mentioned earlier, your cameras aren't lined up...

    B54PRO-Z4E first impression

Have you tried the Backlight HLC=ONE "hack" on the T54PRO-ZE ... that first image with the golf cart especially looks like it has the "fog" overlaid on top of it ... so no true blacks, plus loss of sharpness. Super-simple to test in a static scene - take a snapshot via the web interface, ONLY...

How often are you successful in picking up women at the bars by showing them your Sekonic?!? ;-)

    B54PRO-Z4E first impression

Roger all that @tmxv4128 and yea, I figured you were a "deranged photographer" (meant as a compliment) as I was. As you know, there is a mantra in our world to "expose to the right" ... since (with RAW), we can often recover/tame those highlights ... but hard to recover details in the blacks...

    B54PRO-Z4E first impression

GREAT report @tmxv4128. I've highlighted items #6 and #10 because they seem possibly contradictory if I'm understanding it right. I also think there is more dynamic range (with true blacks and better highlight control) ... but when you say "flat response", do you mean the histogram doesn't...

    B54PRO-Z4E first impression

Assuming similar values (at least shutter speed), the 5442-S3 is clearly superior to the T54PRO-ZE in those pics!
