Afternoon all,

Just had 1 of my color 4k-x 2.8MM come up with a Failed to Find Network Host.
I rebooted the NVR and it's back up, but I'm wondering if this is the beginning of the end for this camera, or ??

Changing ethernet wire will be a PITA, as well as even checking it for moisture etc.. but if needed I'll check.

If this is the beginning of the end for the cam, what do you all suggest? I have good enough light for color 24/7, I like the 4k, etc... but. It's mainly overview for my driveway, etc..

I'd check the wire and connections first. The only time I had a problem similar to what you are experiencing, it turned out to be the wire. If you're using a Dahua NVR with your 4K-X, under "Maintenance Center" select one-click-diagnosis. It may detect something intermittent. As far as replacing the camera, I would stick with the 4K-X. I have three 4K-X series 1 and recently bought three 4K-X series 2 cams for backups, since they are listed as end of life. Great cameras.

Not likely the camera.

Is it plugged into a Dahua NVR PoE port? Or on an external switch?

Have you tried switching the camera to a different POE port? Sometimes the POE port you are using also could be the problem, but switching to a different working POE port and it solve the issue for some people.

Not yet. I'm hoping this was just a blip. But was curious what everyone thought. I'll keep any eye out on things. I hope it's not the switch starting to go. :crosses fingers:

New cam wise, I'm guessing nothing has come out recently that is worth the upgrade?

I used to have a small 8 port POE switch that's working for years except 1 of the port. You might still able to use the POE switch even if one or two ports are not working.

Yeah, recently nothing really exciting is coming out, but I was kind of interested in SD5R404GA-HNF. But Andy doesn't have this camera available on his website for sell though.
(wittaj posted a pic here)

I'd almost be willing to pay for a new 7 series. I really like the ability for face capture, license, etc... without using more NVR capabilities.
But it doesn't look like Andy has the new 7 series.

Yeah, I have one of the other mini ptz and think it does a good job for keeping an eye on my front porch, part of my front lawn.

Guess if I needed to, I could upgrade to the s2 4k version. But I don't know. Kind of too bad cams are the way they are right now.

Worth closely inspecting the RJ45 connector, bit harder when they have been greased! but wise to do that as mentioned above. On rare occasions I have seen them split causing a bad or intermittent connection.
