I wanted to do the same test as yesterday with both cameras 40 minutes after sunset to see what settings for the T54IR I needed to tweak. They both need tweaking. Fortunately, I'll be able to do that at a more precise level with the T54IR.
I'm going to wait on support to finish the ticket. I'll probably still keep it in a location where I need a large overview and not detail. It’s clear that Dahua got the 5442 camera perfected whereas the G6 Pro is a disgrace at night. I can see you fade out in the distance. Are you planning to return the G6 Pro under buyer’s remorse?
That's a pricey proposition to make. You can buy two flawless T54IR's for the price of one G6 Pro Turret. I believe Ubiquiti charges 20% restocking fee for any opened itemsI'm going to wait on support to finish the ticket. I'm hoping to push support on this and see what their remedy is. Hopefully, enough people will come forward with clips where they aren't able to identify a face at night, so they will fix it. I like the daytime video from it very much, and I like the Protect software so far. That's a pricey proposition to make. You can buy two flawless T54IR's for the price of one G6 Pro Turret. I forgot to ask, are you using the $299 UNVR or Dream Machine or something else for UniFi Protect?I'm hoping to push support on this and see what their remedy is. At home for testing, I'm just using the UCG-Fiber. I'm testing these to see which way I want to go for work. I have a bunch of old Dahua cams and NVR that I'm looking to replace. I use Ubiquiti for networking, so wanted to test their cameras. I don't really care for the Dahua NVR.I forgot to ask, are you using the $299 UNVR or Dream Machine or something else for UniFi Protect?
I'll be blunt - I would go with Dahua for cameras, and Ubiquiti strictly for networking devices only. UCG-Fiber for the win - you will be good for yearsAt home for testing, I'm just using the UCG-Fiber. I'm testing these to see which way I want to go for work. Interestingly, I could not notice obvious ghosting / smearing from the T54IR in forced color mode in one of his videos. Not sure the purpose of this pair of testing videos—you tested the G6 with its own IR, and tested the T54IR in forced color mode with no supplemental lighting (in color mode, the IR from the G6 is as good as nothing for the T54IR). You never tested the G6 in forced color mode with no supplemental lighting (I bet it probably could hardly see at all if you did!). That said, this is the kind of scene where the Color4M-TL outperforms the T54IR.
I may end up replacing Dahua with Dahua. It was a pleasant experience not having to use a plugin or open the T54IR in Pale Moon to configure it. I have a bunch of old Dahuas, and that was a pain. The out of the box experience with Protect has been light years ahead of what I am used to with the old Dahua stuff. But, if I can't get good night performance with Ubiquiti, I'll go Dahua again.I'll be blunt - I would go with Dahua for cameras, and Ubiquiti strictly for networking devices only. I have never had to install the plugin which is prompted in the T54IR web interface. Works perfectly fine in Google Chrome for me. I actually like the granular controls in Dahua's newest modern web user interface. I really hope they reincorporate Sony / Omnivision sensors in newer models in the years ahead. Some of my 5442 (older T54IR) cameras are literally hitting 7 years of flawless performance in my setup. Crazy how time flies.I may end up replacing Dahua with Dahua. I didn't force color mode on the T54IR. I let them each do their thing. As I said, I'll need to do some tweaking. Not sure the purpose of this pair of testing videos—you tested the G6 with its own IR, and tested the T54IR in forced color mode with no supplemental lighting (in color mode, the IR from the G6 is as good as nothing for the T54IR), causing it to seriously struggle. Yeah, Chrome works just fine with the T54IR. I have some older Dahua cams that required the plugin and Pale Moon. My experience with overnight shipping isn't good. Overnight shipments here are delivered by 3rd party independent drivers who use their own vehicle. Since the beginning of the year here, they've become unreliable. I've had several rescheduled deliveries with overnight selection. It got to the point where one delivery just kept getting pushed back, so I cancelled it.WTF Amazon. Why are they defaulting to a 4AM-8AM overnight delivery? it's 2:25 Am now....LOL Should I make coffee and sit out on the porch?
