The official "WTF" thread

A six-alarm fire destroyed a 1.2-million-square-foot Kimberly-Clark distribution center in Ontario, California, on April 7, 2026. The facility, which was leased by Kimberly-Clark and operated by third-party logistics partner NFI Industries, suffered a total loss including a roof collapse, though no injuries were reported among the 20 employees safely evacuated.

Chamel Abdulkarim, a 29-year-old NFI employee, was arrested and charged with arson after authorities identified him as the suspect behind the blaze. Video evidence reportedly shows Abdulkarim intentionally igniting the paper products and making comments about pay, leading to his detention without bail on multiple felony charges.

Kimberly-Clark confirmed that no manufacturing assets were impacted and that the building was not occupied by any Kimberly-Clark staff at the time. The company has activated response teams to secure additional warehousing capacity and is using insurance coverage to address the costs of the fire and business interruptions, with a full update expected in their April 28 quarterly report.

Happened to a family member, 3 times in less than a year of buying a new Asus laptop. He called me about it, I scolded him for logging into Microsoft when he setup the laptop. He has to go to Microsoft's site (Hiss Account), on another PC/laptop to get the Bitlocker recovery key each time. Think there are 14 keys to chose from he said. I have never used Bitlocker data encryption and never plan too.

Somehow these new laptops are defaulting Bitlocker On, guessing they are forcing people to login/create a Microsoft account with 25H2 version.

Has anybody recently logged into their Asus router lately? I just did and got a message that they are updating their terms and conditions for using their router. I had AI do a summary and it says they are going to track everything you do and if you decline they are going to block all third party apps. AI also said the if you do nothing it will be added to an update and do it anyway. AI even said if I download the merlin Asus router firmware I will still need to except the new terms to get my third party apps to work. It boils down that if you want to use an Asus router you must except their terms.

I wonder if that is only if you use MicroTrend or parental controls?

Excellent commentary on the declining birth rate....

"...we got rich enough to redefine children as an expense instead of the point. somewhere in the last fifty years the cultural goal inverted and a child stopped being what life is for and became a line item competing with the lifestyle...)
