Blue Iris RTSP Stream Logging Out

Our Blue Iris has been running stable since the initial installation. We stream our cameras from Blue Iris over RTSP to VLC. Starting today, our staff has been mentioning their streams keep disconnecting after a couple minutes - and they have to re-open again repeatedly. After checking the logs in Blue Iris, the stream sessions are logging off for each user 2 1/2 minutes after login - repeatedly. Looks like a new version was auto-installed 5/25, but the issues started today.

Does anyone have any input on this? I can't figure it out for the life of me. Already rebooted, installed a different version of Blue Iris (Currently sitting on 5.9.2.0 - upgraded from 5.9.1.6).

Step one would be to turn off the auto update! and stick with doing updates manually, then you are less likely to get these sort of unexpected glitches. if you only apply updates that are marked as stable!
Can you go back to the version that you had that was running fine to see if it resolves the problem?

Same problem here!!! After updating to the latest stable version - 5.9.1.6 (5/24/2024). I am going to try to revert to a previous version.

Well, trying to upgrade to the latest version first (5.9.2.3)... let's see if that fixes it... RTSP streaming now... will it hold for over 2 minutes... standby... NO!!! Going to revert to 5.9.0.7 (5/2/2024) and try that... YES!!! Reverting to 5.9.0.7 seems to have fixed the problem.

Stop with the Auto updates FFS.
I'm running 5.7.5.2 ( 04/20/2023)

Looks like this has been fixed in 5.9.2.4.

And looks like it is broken again. Trying to setup a new system now and it looks like this problem has returned. Opening an RTSP stream in VLC media player works for a few seconds then stops/disconnects. Using Blue Iris 6.0.3.8. Emailed Blue Iris support.

I am puzzled, if the RTSP stream will not work in VLC, would that not indicate a camera problem rather than a problem in Blue Iris?

Very possible, IMO.

Using 5.9.9.73 here and in the last few months have streamed to VLC for several hours with no disconnect or errors. This was done with RTSP from Dahua, Amcrest, and TP-LINK Tapo cams to test before suggesting to other people that asked me how to watch a single camera on their PC and don't have or want Blue Iris.

Camera seems to stream fine to Blue Iris.

Here, try it yourself:
rtsp:/test:[email protected]:81/skycam

NOTE: Suppose to be two slashes after rtsp: but the forum keeps changing it.

Does it work? And for how long does it stream until it stops?

Streamed OK to my Blue Iris for at least 10 minutes before I shut it down.

Won't stream to my VLC (v3.0.21 and after updated to 3.0.23) for more than 25 secs, usually stops after 1 or 2 sec.

A puzzle, my man....at least for me. :idk:

Thanks... maybe a bug in VLC media player... I need to find another RTSP stream player to test with.

Hold on a sec...
I have a client with tanning beds, Blue Iris and 3 cams.
I streamed one of their cams to my VLC using RTSP from their BI server much like your stream URL (diff hostname, camera, user, password of course, otherwise the same) without a hitch for 10 minutes fine....and they have 10Mbps down ADSL!
WTH?

What version of Blue Iris? I updated to the latest (6.0.4.4) to see if there was any difference but it still fails. I was using an older version of Blue Iris (5.9) last year when it worked (after reporting it and Blue Iris fixing it) but that was a different camera and computer. So perhaps the Blue Iris bug has returned.

Do you know if the Blue Iris 'Webserver' settings > Advanced > settings for 'Streaming 0' affect the RTSP stream? I was thinking of playing with those settings to see if I could get something to work. Also waiting to hear back from Ken again from Blue Iris support.

Using BI ver 5.9.9.73 on my BI server.

I have never changed those webserver settings in my BI or in the remote BI server (ver 5.3.3.11) at the tanning salon...which BTW I just streamed another one of their cams to my VLC for 45 minutes glitch-free!
