I wanted to stick a poll in the Money/Economics thread, but a reply can't be a poll.

Is a refund "Fair" or is that some version of "Corporate Welfare"?

Should they be given? Yes to the consumers. Problem is, we the people already paid the TAXES or as Trump calls them tariffs, if any refunds are issued, we the people, will be taxed again to refund the taxes we already paid.
So yeah... every economist, who isn't in the butt kissing inner circle, stated that tariffs didn't work the way Trump stated. But wouldn't want to listen to anyone that has a different view point.

So yes, but no. Either way, we the people, get screwed while the politicians, and the inner circle get richer.

Yes. If the tariffs were canceled, importers should get refunded. I voted yes because I’ve actually paid extra on shipments that later turned out to be based on policies that didn’t even hold up. That money does not just disappear, it hits pricing, contracts, everything.

That's the problem though--- why should a refund go to ONE link in that chain?

Agreed. Each level should get a refund. But only if importers/retailers can prove they've issued refunds to consumers. It's going to turn into a bit of a nightmare to those who haven't kept receipts/records of their purchases, and a single retail receipt with 10 items could involve 10 importers, each with a different tariff levels. Many Made-In-America goods are only packaged domestically, and contain components from multiple sources.
