.......There are still significantly more sheep than people in New Zealand, with an estimated ratio of about 4.5 to 5 sheep for every person. As of 2024–2025, there are approximately 23.6 million sheep compared to 5.3 million people. While this is the lowest ratio since the 1850s, New Zealand remains one of the few countries in the world where sheep outnumber humans.
