Hello
I purchased a house and the previous owner had cameras installed with DVR from DASHUA

it seems the system is plugged to internet (I see en ethernet cable) but not to the main router, maybe it is plugged directly to an other fiber connected to the house via an fiber/ethernet switch ?

I wanted to connect the cameras to my DMSS phone app
I was unable to connect with the QR code on the DVR , after waiting for a long time it shows me an error at 100%.

I thought I might be able to solve the issue by plugging a screen directly on the DVR, I did, and it works, I see the 6 cameras on my monitor, however I am unable to access any setting, because it asks me an "admin" pass which I do not have.

Will it solve my issue if I do a hard reset of the DVR, what is the best solution to be able to connect the DVR to my phone DMSS APP ?

Hi Hiccup

I would look to do a factory reset if the DVR is fairly new, otherwise I would buy a newer DVR

Thanks a lot for answers, I am totally novice in DVR
My model is DH-XVR5108HS-12, I think it has around 4 years and seems in good condition
There is a whole lot of cable plugged to it, I forgot to mention the cameras are hard wired on the DVR

If I will be able to hard reset the DVR you think the DVR will still work ?
And that I would be able to connect it to my phone DMSS app, even though it would be connected to a different network ?
(because the DVR seem to be connected to a different network, I have no clue which, there is an ethernet cable plugged to it but definitly not from my main router)

are the cameras going to be displaying after potential hard reset or do I need a professional for the setup following a potential reset, or can do myself ?

yes it will still work but it will require technical knowledge to reconfigure a number of settings

And yes the DMSS app will work with it after the technical configuration is properly done.

Find out where the LAN cable goes and to what device it’s connected.

You should probably hire a professional as these aren’t simple yes/no issues

End users cannot recover a lost password. They need to perform a factory reset.
Use the factory default button inside of the recorder unit.

Yes - Factory default clears all settings of the XVR and resets back to new default settings.
Any connected analogue cameras do not need a password to be added back. However: any digital IP cameras connected with also need to be reset (reset button inside of those).

And that I would be able to connect it to my phone DMSS app, even though it would be connected to a different network ?
Yes - You can add to DMSS app (and the PC app 'Smart PSS Lite').
There may be a message stating someone else's account is the owner of this device. You can click 'request to unbind' and follow the instructions to photograph the device's serial number sticker alongside a code written on paper.
