Court lifts restrictions on immigration officers' tactics in Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — An appeals court on Wednesday suspended a decision that restricts immigration officers' aggressive tactics in Minnesota, while Maine declined a request for more undercover license plates for U.S. Customs and Border Protection vehicles, citing “abuses of power” during the Trump administration's crackdown.

The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals was persuaded to freeze a judge's ruling that bars officers from using tear gas and other steps against peaceful protesters while the administration pursues an appeal. Operation Metro Surge, an immigration enforcement operation in Minnesota's Twin Cities, began in early December.

DOJ as released some like 55,000 documents. That is 55,000 more than Bided released. Bondi shouldn't release info that damages victims-- right?? Do you suppose that might take some time to sort out?

I think Biden and his folks should have released them... probably the same reason they didn't, trying to protect friends... but that's history now...

No, don't release the documents that damage victims... save those for last if they will take time to be redacted... do you really think there aren't meaningful documents that could be released right away? So, how much time should they need to release them?

And again, what about Ghislaine Maxwell's sweet deal after sitting with Todd Blanche? It stinks to high hell.

Apparently, it is more than Greenland in this framework. It also includes the Arctic. The head of NATO gave Trump good reviews from the meeting that they had DAVOS. I guess we will find out in the coming days more details of what this includes and does not include.

Wave of repatriation of Cuban personnel from Venezuela could signal shift towards the US after Maduro's capture: report​


A long-haul Ilyushin IL-96-300 operated by Cuba's state airline has made repeated, largely opaque flights between Havana and Caracas in recent days, fueling indications that the Cuban government is quietly repatriating personnel deployed in Venezuela following the U.S. operation that led to the capture of authoritarian President Nicolás Maduro.

The same aircraft that returned wounded Cuban personnel to Havana after the January 3 raid flew again to Caracas on Tuesday, marking its fourth round trip in five days, according to reporting by 14ymedio.

The plane, refurbished in Russia two years ago and capable of carrying up to 400 passengers, has completed at least six such flights in the past 15 days, suggesting that as many as 2,500 Cubans may have been transported—nearly 10 percent of the estimated Cuban contingent in Venezuela.

A source at Havana's José Martí International Airport told 14ymedio that the flights have been handled with strict secrecy. "They always park it on a remote runway, away from view, and civilian staff are usually kept away," the source said, adding that when civilians are involved, they are selected for their political loyalty.

The IL-96 first flew to Venezuela on January 5, two days after the U.S. military operation, though the flight did not appear on public tracking sites. The aircraft frequently flies with its transponder off and is typically used for sensitive missions, including transporting senior officials.

Halliburton prepares to quickly reenter Venezuelan market​


Halliburton Chief Executive Jeff Miller expressed confidence that the oilfield-services company could quickly ramp up its business in Venezuela.

Interest in Venezuelan oil has surged in recent weeks after President Trump called on U.S. oil companies to invest heavily in the country, making increased oil production central to his plans for Venezuela following the U.S. incursion earlier this month that deposed strongman Nicolás Maduro.

While U.S. oil producers have expressed hesitancy about rushing back into Venezuela, the companies that provide them with equipment and expertise are positioning themselves for what could be years of work rehabilitating the country’s oil fields, pipelines and export infrastructure.

“My phone is ringing off the hook in terms of interest in Halliburton being there,” Miller said Wednesday on a call with analysts. “I think there are opportunities for us sooner rather than later.”

The comments came after Halliburton reported lower profit on roughly flat sales in the recent quarter, though both were ahead of Wall Street expectations. The company also warned of a softer start to the year.

The stock was recently trading hands 3.3% higher, at $33.14.

Miller said Halliburton, which began operating in Venezuela in 1938, stands to benefit from reentering the country. The company exited Venezuela in 2019 to comply with U.S. sanctions, but it has maintained a footprint in the country, including operating bases that would allow it scale operations.

She said they were on her desk a year ago. Then she said they didn’t exist. Then Kash said there was nothing to see…then..Bondis DOJ last week filed a motion to say that the courts couldn’t force them to release them…

The more I learn about Greenland, the more I wonder what is really going on with Team Trump here ..

It just is not logically adding up that one would want to buy the cow when the milk is already free
