Smart PSS is dead so I switched to DSS, now apparently DSS is no longer offered. What do I do now?

So I've been using an Amcrest NVER for years, and using SmartPSS to monitor it at my desk. Today the Amcrest is having trouble sho I tried to add the cameras direclty in DSS express client, and it told me I had too many cameras for my license. So I decided to see what a refgular license would cost and see that they stopped selling DSS as of December 22...

So what are my options for building a new NVR and / or a client to access a new NVR and / or the cameras directly?

All of this has just worked or so long up to the Smart PSS EOL, so I haven't really kept up with the options, but a quick look around doesn't seem to show many.

What are folks doing in cases like mine?

Tried to try that more than a year ago but the link on their website delivered something that only installed the full NVR package (possibly the Orion app), no client only install, which I need for my 'monitor' system.
That's also when I was put off of Amcrest, because I posted a question there asking how to get the client and it's still awaiting moderators permission more than a year later... So Amcrest doesn't really seem to care once they get your money.

Of course at that point I was JUST looking for the client, so if I do build the NVR maybe I'll try amcrest's software now that you got me the client!

If I was going to run any kind of VMS software on a PC it would be Blue Iris. I've been a user for going on 12 years and have it running at a client's business and a friend's residence for about 8 years now. We're all pleased with it. :cool:

I was goig to check that out, but it says it's out of stock'... Not sure how software gets out of stock, but the screen shots look good so I'll check back.

That has been an ongoing thing with the IPCT store and I wish it wasn't....but you can also go right to the developer at Perspective Software who also deserves our support for such a great value. :cool:

SmartPSS is for Dahua, Amcrest have their own version. Though they arent releasing new Smart PSS versions besides the LITE one you can still use Smart PSS and I use it daily as do my clients, works for all Cameras I have thrown at it, all the latest Empiretech stuff. Stable version is 2023-03-10. If you dont need p2p or AI you can even use the older Silver versions.

DSS Express is free up to 64 channels, I would use NX Witness though. Great VMS

Stable version is 2023-03-10.

I’ve also found that to be the most stable. Though I haven’t really tried many of the 2025 releases
