I didn't know you had alien cats. At least that's how AI thinks. Very green at night! All a bit COD Spec Ops.

Definite winner in the 5442. Only area the new camera wins in is it does a very good job of removing the mosquito noise but as discussed previously, it's not too hard when the picture is static as the background reference is always there. That kind of AI could be added to any camera although with the current motion issues, I'm sure most would at present prefer it without.

Whilst I do like a saturated image, there's a definite loss of detail compared to the 5442.

In fairness though, if you didn't have a back to back comparison to make with the 5442, you'd probably not be unhappy with the new camera on static images. It's the low light / night, with motion where it really trips up based other people's previous videos, and when compared to the 5442, it's clear to see it's a small retrograde step in terms of picture quality, probably a larger one if it weren't for AI. Not sure the new sensor is really an improvement. But if the benefits of the AI outweigh the negatives, then it's not a bad camera, it's just not the class leader in my eyes.

Dahua released on website new firmware for TIOC-PRO (IPC-HX3XXX-Goethe_MultiLang_PN_Stream3_V3.140.0000000.21.R.251206), which have also AI-ISP on/off switch in configuration page.

Interesting is that after upgrading from older firmware, this switch will be default to OFF...

Looks like Dahua starts to hide the current AI-ISP implementation in current cams based on actual hardware from SOC manufacturers. Looks like this is not working as it should and Dahua knows that this can't be corrected in firmware...

maybe future version which will use next gen hardware / SOC will change that...

Sample with the new FW

Better? mebbe a smidge.

The IR image obviously suffers (too soft not enough definition) due to having to dial back Sharpness and increase NR so much for the color image where the digital noise on moving objects is still the main problem.
As @steve1125 mentions, this isnt going to be fixed with FW

You wont notice the fuzzy digital noise on moving objects a phone screen. But if you go full size on a monitor its still very obvious.
Notice it on Mrs Bigredfish's hair

My lovely assistant

It seems the duct tape holding the forum software together has failed. again
Will try and upload a video again later

Well it seems the Admin here at IPCT has reduced the upload max to about 1/2 of what it was and has been (100MB)

So anything over about 60MB will have to be linked from another provider.

Here's the video mentioned above
Beautiful still image, as well as daytime.

Movement produces the now familiar digital AI fuzz that you try to reduce by increasing NR and deceasing Sharpness to under 30

With enough light, you can make much of it go away. And you're left with an image that's not quite as good as a 5442 with added light

Newest FW Dec 2025

Set Youtube player to 1440p

If I needed a camera with a speaker what would you recommend out of the 54Pro or the 4M? It seems like there are a lot of issues with fog, rain, etc.. so I do want to avoid that if possible. The cameras with speakers would be going on the back and front porch areas.

Oh wow the 5442 is really just that much better huh? Why can’t they just make it with a speaker built in!

I do have porch lights and could trigger them to turn on when motion is detected so hopefully that helps.

They should indeed have just integrated the white LEDs and activation by IVS on the 5442 and sold a gazzilion of them.

But AI is cool and the new SOC makes everything “brighter” which most unknowing consumers will eat up.

It can be tough to make a 5442 switch to color with added motion lights, but it can be done.

Placement has a lot to do with it. Allowing the light to hit the 5442 onboard light sensor to make it switch.

Curiously, the older S2 seems to be more sensitive to doing this than the S3.

Give me a bit and I’ll post a couple of videos showing what I mean.
