IP5M-T1179EW vs. IP5M-T1179EW-AI

Hi all,

I see that the bunch of Amcrest cameras I purchased a few years back (IP5M-T1179EW) are now showing up with a slightly modified model number (IP5M-T1179EW-AI). It looks like the camera now includes some AI event detection functionality - possibly human and vehicle detection which I use on my other cameras.

What's the chances that the firmware from the newer model can be flashed to the older to gain the new functionality?

I'd hazard to say "not good"...if you could do that, they'd lose the sale of a camera with the "-AI" suffix and the added ability.
The AI version likely has more processing horsepower than it's non-AI cousin (I have a (IP5M-T1179EW, BTW.....). :cool:

I almost hoped it would. then I could create a " problem" in which the only solution is a

EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-AS-S3 1/1.8"​

Yea, I wish the Amcrest had the smarter detection in it, as I need something that can specifically identify humans and vehicles and avoid false alarms. That may be reason enough for me to upgrade...
 
If your running Blue Iris 6 you might get by with the AI tab in Camera settings.
