The time is past due for me to replace my Ubiquiti Edgerouter POE-5 (running guykuo's guide to isolate the surveillance networks) which is beyond EOL. I do not have a need for POE from the router but I do want to keep a similar setup to what I am currently running. I presently have a 200/200 connection with my ISP and the option to go as high as 2.5 over copper, if I choose to in the future (I have little to no need in the immediate future to go beyond my current connection speed). Currently looking at the Ubiquiti Cloud Gateway Max and planning to make this purchase before it goes off sale tomorrow. Does anyone see any reason not to go this with this particular unit? If I am missing any particular information to help provide constructive feedback, please ask. I am pretty tied into the UI product line and intend to stay with it for my replacement so this is more of a product selection question than it is brand selection question.

I bought this as it's got everything I need until I expire:

The bonus is, I will not need the 512GB Nvme it comes with, and it can be removed and used in a new BI machine to run 6.0.

I just did the same as @weigle2
Though, not too sure of all the Ubiquiti vocabulary. I did get the Cloud Gateway Ultra (not max). Unsure if I made mistake or not.
This Ultra is an upgrade from my 2017'ish Ubiquiti UDM (or is it UDR? again..vocabulary).

For sure, needed something that can handle various VLAN's (IOT, Cameras, regular network, Jefferey Epstein at-home Camera Network, etc). And yet stay in the Ubiquiti UniFi ecosystem.
So far... happy camper.

Granted. I have co-axial Charter Spectrum to my house. NOT fiber so do not need the 50gig bandwidth that some routers may come with.

Appreciate the feedback. I considered the Ultra and the Fiber but settled on the Max. Don't know if my ISP will ever offer 10 gig speeds before the Max reaches EOL but figured since 2.5 is currently available, I felt the extra $50 to be a worthy investment for the higher speed capacity and like weigle2, I'll probably use the SSD in a BI machine. My wife also found out today that her employer is going to a hybrid work schedule so I'll be bumping the speed to gig next month due to the nature of her work. Guess I need to learn VLANS now

many great VLAN youtube setups. Yes, you NEED VLAN's. IOT in general, CAMERA network, etc.

Yeah, save your money and find something that works with OpenWRT or DDwrt. Get rid of stuff that gets EOLed and can't be converted to open source options.
