Just a quick question about this. What if I didn't Deactivate my key before starting over with a fresh windows install? Will I be ok to just reenter my key?

I'd say "yes" if:

1) The fresh install is on the same PC and
2) The version of the fresh install was released less than a year from when BI was purchased OR a 1 year maintenance renewal was purchased

its be less than a year since i purchased the maintenance key. but i used my original key on the new install. should i use the maintenance instead?

The maintenance key will not work to activate BI, new installs do not use the maintenance keys anymore it is all linked to the activation key I believe!
