IPC-T5442T-ZE IPC-T5442TM-AS IPC-T5842T-ZE SMD 3.0 Smart IR Latest New Firmware From EmpireTech

Successfully updated a IPC-T5442TM-AS from "V2.820.15OG001.0.R, Build Date: 2021-05-25" to "V2.840.15OG00D.0.R, Build Date: 2022-08-18". This version fixed a bug I encountered where the image quality would get worse when smart plan is set to IVS and at least 1 IVS rule is active. This bug also happens to my other cameras running versions 2020-10-19 and 2020-12-03.

Today I updated my IPC-T5442T-ZE from V2.820.150G001.0.R, Build Date: 2021-07-06 to: V2.840.150GOOD.O.R.220818
Update was successful, I even forgot to set one camera to the default settings, which caused no problem!

I am new to this forum and have recently gotten some IPC-T5442TM-AS with firmware ENG-PN_V2.820.15OG001.0.R20210706.
I am a bit confused about the comments re. FW V2.840, dated 20220818
Additionally, I downloaded "No smart IR_IPC-HX5XXX-Volt_MultiLang_PN_Stream3_V2.840.0000000.25.R.230425.bin" which is even newer.
Please, can you give me any recommendations which version to update to?

Yes, if want smart IR, that is the one.

I just updated my IPC-T5442T-ZEB from version 2.820.15OG001.0R to General_IPC-HX5XXX-Volt_MultiLang_PN_Stream3_V2.840.0000000.26.R.231221. However after the upgrade the ConfigTool does not show the correct model anymore, it now shows "IP Camera" in stead. Is there anyway to fix this?

Did you try resetting to factory and power cycling the camera a few times?

I don't see the model name in the web interface either so my guess it that it's gone.

sorry for the nuisance but is the new firmware uploaded on the first page of this forum post by Andy?
This is Andy's Thread, he controls the first and all his post.

I have 11 IPC-T54IR-ZEB-S3s running V3.142.0000000.0.R, Build Date: 2024-05-16. Anything released since then firmware-wise that's worth looking at? Thanks

You have been around long enough to know that if the camera is working and meets your needs, don't fix what ain't broke LOL. My 54IRs are running the same firmware they had when I installed them.

There is a thread here somewhere that someone had I think 7 of that camera and decided to update them all to the same firmware and one of them bricked.

Except for new cameras like the PRO camera, firmware updates are usually security bugs but since we isolate the cameras from the internet, it is a moot point.

I jumped on the bandwagon when this new firmware came out because it was one of the few times an actual improvement was introduced - SMD 3.0 that was supposed to be a better AI algorithm- it was worse for me, and other members here, than the previous firmware I was on and it was missing triggers the previous AI did not.

When I tried to rollback my firmware I almost bricked the camera. It took a desperate attempt of holding in the reset button for 3 minutes, but the picture quality isn't as good as it was prior to the update.

I know better, LOL. Since I use the on-board AI to trigger BI, I'm really just curious if any AI detection improvements have been made. I've had a few occurrences where a camera didn't pick up a vehicle in my driveway.
