Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

So why does my 54PRO not activate its LED's and go to color when it detects critters now?

We've had a roving band of criminals come by 3 nights in a row now and they trip both IVS rules, but no white LEDs and no color transition?

My motion floods give it plenty of light to switch to color regardless of the Smart Illum or IVS activation...

The old 5442 S2 had no problem with a 400 lumen Mr Beams

And of course no problem switching with the 3500-4000 lumen floods..

This is exact the scene where i want to turn the on board LED and over alarm out additional LED floods on. But only if its detects a human and not an animal.

Why doesnt the 54PRO AS using the "Auto Day/Night setting, switch to color and stay in color when there is plenty of light for it to switch to color?

It will only come on when activated by IVS rule if set or via Smart Illumination motion detection.

When the timer ends and the white LEDs shut off, it reverts back to B&W.

So
  • it wont switch to color by light sensor using the AUTO setting under Day/Night
  • It won't stay in color when there is enough ambient light to do so

WTF?
My old 5442’s do…

If I were you, I would reinstall the 5442 and wait for the next cameras.

My 54PRO-ZE has always been odd about the day/night timing. It switches to night around an hour before and to day around an hour after the lighting conditions seem sufficient to to trigger the function. My other cheapie cams agree with me and make the change accordingly.

I just stuck a 541R-AS right beside it in the window. I will compare their timing tomorrow.

edit: Never mind, I forgot that I'm on the original firmware so this isn't useful to you guys.

the cam cant.
They made so many changes to the firmware and it got worse from version to version.

They have an alghorithm which measure the overall brightness of the picture in dB. They can dial in some values what happen when it reaches a point. Thats also the reason why people said the auto day/night switch doesnt work on other cam models. It is made to work in auto mode. If you dial in something the algo does not work anymore.

Its the same with shutter/gain when you put in a range. An alghortihm decides which values the cam uses. It worked good for 5442, but completely fails on 59 pro. At one point it is out of control. It looks like they use parts of IR firmware, just thought they can change some numbers and it will work perfect with their magic mode. But it does not.

They are working on it. At the moment it makes no sense to fix minor issues like auto day/night when the image is not good. We need a useable image day/night, then we can talk about bugs like IVS or day/night switch.

Fully agree a useable image would be top priority. I was wanting to make sure that pretty basic and glaring obvious broken feature was the camera and not me.

Amazing these left the factory for sale to the public

Btw day/night works for my cameras. I get auto IR/light switch after detection, and it also switches between color and bw mode when enough light is provided - it is possible that the light sensitivity is a bit low as I am using 2x100W floodlights which are like 20k lumens.
