Do you record phone calls (obviously abiding to local state laws and regulations)? As consumers, have you ever experienced not getting something you paid for? (i.e. telecommunications, utilities, etc).

What are your thoughts? Every modern Android / iOS device has call recording features built in now making the person on the other end of the line aware he/she is being recorded.

No, hadn't even thought of it, but now that you mention it, I would keep it in mind... on the other hand, I can't really think of any calls I would have recorded... seems like almost all transactions happen on the Internet these days.
Every time I call my ISP or Mobile Carrier, I record them - they are notorious for switching around terms you never agreed to

Wait, I thought all phones sold in the USA had call recording functions stripped out. It has NEVER been built in to any phone I've owned.

I used to record every call using a third party app called "Total Recall" but they seemed to stop maintaining it so the best recording methods would get broken with new phones or OS updates, and it got taken off the app store a while back (I'm guessing because the developer stopped complying with Google's evolving policies; they require stuff like privacy questionnaires to be filled out once in a while). Before it vanished the only method that worked was to record via the phone's microphone, and the audio levels were really bad.

I would record simply because my memory sucks and I'd often need to go back to review some detail.

Maybe it's just an iPhone/iOS functionality?

I just tried on an iPhone... when I hit the record button it put me in the app store to download the "Notes" app since it was not already loaded on my phone... other than that, I worked great... the "transcript" feature is cool... I can see how this would be helpful for conversations with medical offices, making appointments, etc.
