The official "WTF" thread

It is not uncommon for some folks from Asian countries to only have one name, the family name. I have known several folks that only had one name. The company that I worked for HAD to have a first and last name in their records and on the company ID. So they just repeated the name.

The Oklahoma director of motor vehicles or public safety (whatever it is in OK) needs to have his balls put in a vise so he'll find out which DEI reject gave Achmed a valid CDL with no frickin' name......

Unlike Achmed I had to bring in a passport, a previous valid driver's license and my DD214 to get a star ID and a military veteran's label on my driver's license.....and I'm a natural born citizen of this country.

As Looney2ns would say....."what a bunch of maroons".

It's not the Oklahoma guy's fault.... the jackass got the license in NY.

I saw the same thing happen when I was in college back in 1974. There were lots of student clubs that would get some cash from the college. These were student organization fees, $14.50 each student paid with their tuition. I belonged to the Geology Club and the Math Club. Each club would elect club officers at the beginning of the year. One year there was a group of students that would go to each of the club meetings when the election was going to be held and nominate their own members as officers. Then they would elect those people. Realize that each of these clubs really did not have many members, so 15-20 'new members' showing up and voting overwhelmed the real members. They then would drain the money from the club account and leave.

Intentional Under the Radar Thieves...can't stand those type...at least with robbers they have the guts to be in your face, eye to eye, and you know what is going on, not like these cowards who take money with their deception schemes.

Don't get me wrong, I despise robbers too but it is just that I am getting older and all of this digital fraud going on has me on edge as I have seen with many elderly being taken advantage of. These Thieves don't get a face to face with their victims, so no conscious...

Sorry got on a rant, I got a text message yesterday from Free People (??? found they are an online shopping site), well my mind has been going 90 to nothing with all kinds of thoughts, email compromised? Did someone open an account in my name? Why did I get this verification code?

Last week, I went to the bank (Wells Fargo) to get a large-to-me cashiers check to buy a car for my daughter. The car is out of state and is being shipped. I had to go through 40 questions about the whole purchase transaction at the bank, and it took me a while to realize the teller was concerned that I may be a victim of fraud. Well, I'm buying a rental car from Hertz Car Sales, so I am not too concerned about fraud with a national corporation.

I also realized this young teller looks at me like I'm OLD. ME? Old?? How in the F did that happen? LOL... anyway this little CX-30 should keep my daughter going for 10~15 years or so, barring any accidents.

I get text messages like that all the time... all you know for sure is that they have your cell number... maybe someone legitimate made a mistake/typo and used your number when creating their account... probably not... I always assume it's just someone fishing, hoping you will start a dialog and try to start a scam from there... I "delete and report junk" and never give it a second thought.

Could be a disguised marketing spam. You logically went on to discover who they were and could potentially look at their site and buy something. Plus whoever reads your IPCT post knows about them now.

I am old. I realized that a few weeks ago.

But I don't remember getting old.

It just happened.

Either that, or I am so old that my memory is not that good, so I don't remember getting old.

I'm getting this for post 2448, 4 or 5 posts above:

"Loading Facebook SDK. You will need to disable any adblocker, privacy extension, or built-in tracking protection."

In other words, if we can't put all of our crap in your face and track you, you can't play.

Then they will block your API access for some unknown reason and take weeks to respond. Ain't no way in a million years would I build on their platform.
