Pro-Scottish independence accounts, allegedly run by the Iranian secret service, have gone silent since Israel launched an attack on the country. Dozens of anonymous X accounts built up thousands of followers by posting anti-UK sentiment and promoting breaking up the UK.

These were unearthed by Clemson University researchers who highlighted that they were likely an attempt to incite tensions in the UK and run by or on behalf of, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Iran’s powerful military wing. They used generic Scottish names like Isla McGregor, with job titles like "nurse" as well as stock images.

But on June 12 they went dark, coinciding with a major Israeli airstrike campaign against Iranian military and cyber infrastructure. It caused severe power outages, fuel shortages, and an internet blackout affecting 95% of national connectivity.

Originally reported by UK Defence Journal, prominent unionist accounts have posted about this coincidence which seems to prove the Clemson University research. Majority Scotland said: "Iranian bots haven't posted for four days. Fiona, Where are ye noo?" with a link to an account from "Edinburgh, Scotland" which last wrote: "when, when , when can we have #ScottishIndependence?" on June 12.

ScotFax added said "Jake", "Fiona" and "Lucy" accounts that have been linked to Iran have been inactive since June 12.

Between 2022 and 2024, Iranian-linked online activity escalated significantly through a network of fake X accounts that promoted Scottish independence. These messages were designed to blend into genuine political discourse and engage real users, with indy supporters welcoming them into the fold by sharing their posts.

I completely gave up and have been keeping my trap shut on every bit of this for quite some time because... you or I? There isn't a darn thing we can (or will) do about it. That said, anyone that thinks this isn't all by design... well................................................

I’m going to take a break from politics

For the record

1- I liked Charlie
2- I don’t hate Jews. I have a real problem however with the Nation of Israel
3- I voted for Trump 3X
4- I have been a friend and occasional associate of Law Enforcement since I was 18
5- I’m fiscally and socially conservative ( well by the definition of the Reagan era anyway)
6- I don’t hate all Democrats. I do disagree with a very large portion of them though
7- I’m a Christian and an American first. No 2nd place for either of those
8- while a Christian, I have never pretended to be a great one. I have faults
9- I like guns, critters, family time, history, ribeye steaks, baseball, road racing (on a track), bourbon, and a handful of other things ( you’d be surprised how little I actually drink ;)
10- I miss my parents immensely because they were my compass in life. Two of the finest people I’ve ever met.

For all of my adult life I have been the go-to guy. The guy who fixes things. The guy you call when you have a complex or difficult problem. I’ve lost the confidence necessary to be that person for various reasons.

I fear we are heading into very dark times. And I need to focus on the important stuff for a while.
