Just recently, my Edge browser can't use the webplugin properly to render video images. This happens both in the NVR and the 5442 cams. It just shows a white box where the live images need to show up. If I uninstall the webplugin, then the images render just fine but I can't take advantage of the extra functionality without the plugin. Anyone else have this issue?

I tried Pale Moon and hated it. Using IE, the UI is unusable...I can post screenshots if you want.

Edge worked fantastically for so long. I'm wondering if it's a pervasive issue or just applying to me. Any ideas?

Someone else had a similar issue today. Likely FW update

he switch to Edge in IE mode and it works.

Thats what I use on 90% of my Dahua stuff now

I switched to Brave. I learned from another poster that you just have to close the plugin message even though it's installed. Still not perfect because certain functions don't work 100%

There are 3 threads on this.

As I mention in this thread, I think something has changed somewhere and we are going to see more of this.

It appears to either be a change/update to IE or the latest plugin from Dahua.

Interesting how many posts you've made (if my memory is working properly) about your intense hatred for Internet Exploer. Funny how it works for me and not you. Microsoft Edge sucks big time and has since the day it was dumped onto the public by Microsoft.

So . . . it's mostly you. :)

Edge may suck, I only use it for accessing the NVR and cameras, nothing else. I typically use it in IE Mode

The above problem is new and it is affecting multiple users.
It effects both Edge in IE mode and plain IE

Internet Explorer is working 100% fine on my computer. I'll post further if something starts happening with my computer. Pale Moon works too! And I'm not about to voluntarily open Microsoft Edge in Internet Explorer mode since I know it won't work properly with Dahua software and cameras on my computer.

Perhaps. This is what Edge in IE Mode looks like for me. Does that look usable to you? No matter how much I zoom in and out, it's the same terrible UI where the playback area blocks the checkmarks to the right.

Sorry about your Microsoft Edge problem. How about you face reality and quit using it! :banghead:

It’s something new. Last week or so and it has to do with installing the latest Dahua plugin in conjunction with IE

I’ve been using Edge in IE mode for years on a variety of systems. I also use plain IE as well as Pale Moon.

Edge isn’t the problem
Their us no difference in using IE vs Edge in IE mode. They are identical

It may be unique to Win 11

That’s an entirely different issue and has to do with display settings

Many dont't know that without using IE (or Edge in IE mode) you are not seeing certain controls, especially in the NVR

Example
Look at bottom left and see the lack of controls on some browsers. This isnt new

IE -Edge in IE mode

Edge plain

Chrome missing controls

Pale Moon missing controls

Anyway, the Current New Problem experienced by 4 members so far all within a few days of each other is related to
Windows 11, possible new Dahua plugin
Fucks up across ALL browsers.
Its specific to the latest UI WEB5

Its an interaction between the plugin and Windows 11 it appears but I'm still troubleshooting.

It is reproducible by reinstalling the plug in

The NEW Problem seems to be specific to the latest Dahua Camera WEB5 UI

there is another possibility.

on modern (UI5) cams webplugin is not a webplugin any more.
Modern browsers from many years don't support any web plugins..
the only browser who have any support is old Internet Explorer (using ActiveX technology).

on modern browsers webplugin is done as Windows web service.
it runs in background and works as a web server / proxy server on your local addresss (http://localhost:some_high_port_number).
it converts RTSP web streams from camera/NVRs on the fly to the format accepted by modern web browsers.

camera/NVR UI5 web interface detects it and switch to mode, where web service proxy is used. If it not work, you have empty video player boxes..

Maybe some Windows security updates blocked that web service? Or any update to Windows firewall (defender) blocked access to it?

Microsoft non stop sends windows/firewall updates...
