You really shouldn't try to commit burglaries in your own car

I captured this little incident on my cameras last night. According to the police, the vehicle has not been reported stolen, and the detective I contacted thinks it is being driven by the owner. He has placed a BOLO alert for the guy, so I'm guessing the police have had interactions with him in the past.

We've had a rash of mailbox thefts around the area in the past few weeks, and I'm betting this person may have something to do with them.

What type of camera is the PTZ around ~1:39? I'm blown away by the clarity and lack of grain/motion blur. Maybe your neighborhood has lots more light than mine, or maybe I'm doing something wrong.

"PTZ FRONT" is just a Dahua SD49225T-HN, the same PTZ that many others have recommended and used on ipcamtalk.com. Below is an image of my nighttime settings, with IR Light set to "SmartIR". I deliberately set out to find a shutter setting that would reduce motion blur but provide reasonable brightness and contrast, and this is what I hit upon after some experimentation. It's not perfect, but I can't complain given how dark it is in front of my house at night.

Thanks for this detail. So, about 8 msec exposure, comparable to what I use. That 2MP 1/2.8" Starlight sensor rocks. My neighborhood is much darker, and several of my cameras are higher res affairs more optimized to daytime. I don't come close to that clarity even with a heap of supplemental IR from an emitter array.
