I have been pouring over the information on this forum for weeks and I think I have narrowed it down. I would like some input on my camera choices and help choosing an NVR.

I will be starting with 4 cameras for my property to cover my long drive way, house and workshop. This is new house and workshop I am building that will be finishing up in 8-10 weeks as I am doing most of it myself.

(1) Bullet IPC-HFW5231E-Z5
(3) Varifocal IPC-HDW2231R-ZS

The 3 NVR's I am considering at are HNVR NVR4208-4KS2 vs NVR4208-4KS2 vs. NVR4108HS-8P-4KS2. I read the specs. I can see what the differences are, I just don't really understand if I need the features or not...2 hard drives vs 1, ONVIF, alarms in out, etc. Perhaps someone can offer some insight given the cameras I am selecting?

I am new to all this so I am open to suggestions if you like a model camera or NVR that is similar but offers more value for the money.

A little about my home network....
HOME
70 mb Xfinity Internet
Arris 6183
Ubiquity USG
Ubiquity Switch US-16-150W
Ubiquity AP-AC Lite #1
1 bullet camera
1 varifocal camera

WORKSHOP
Ubiquity Switch US-8-60W
Ubiquity AP-AC Lite #2
(2) varifocal cams

Welcome @climb.on

Congratulations on building your own home!

Remember to cable for a few more additional cameras during the construction, that way you can easily add more later.

Thieves like to wear hoodies and caps - and in Minnesota in the winter probably even harder to get a good ID image ( thus why I really like a face level camera by each door ).

Thanks! I thought I ran plenty of cables. Ha! Not even close. But it's a single story so running additional cables really won't be too bad. There are many many things I could of planned better and more thoroughly, but at some point you have to just proceed with the build.

I emailed Andy and he suggested the NVR 4208-8P-4KS2 which is 8 channel for my setup..

You might want to contact him directly..

I think I will go with the NVR5216-4KS2 V2 16 Channel. I would do an 8 channel but can't find it on @EMPIRETECANDY store.
8CH and 16CH None POE nvr, have very little difference for the price. Normally i recommend to buy 8CH if their cam within 4, if use 8Cams, i recommend to use the 16CH.

On the NVR buy the 16 channel. You will be adding more cameras.

Am I correct in assuming that I can run all my (up to 16) cameras through poe switches, on my network, and then just plug the 16 channel NVR into one of the switches? Thus not needing a POE NVR.

I paid the extra cash for the Ubiquiti Unifi POE 8-60 and 16-150 managed switches, assuming I wouldn't also need a POE NVR. Hope that was right.

That is the way I understand it.

How has your project progressed? What did you actually purchase?
Any problems encountered?

I am at a very similar point in my journey also.

Thanks
