Recording blocks cut when profile changes instead of by time or file size (v5.7.5.6). Is this different in v6?

I have a day profile and a night profile. I have combine or cut set to 8hrs or 4GB. I've verified it's not reaching the file size limit. It looks like it cuts the video blocks when the profile changes so I get more than 3 blocks of video. For example, a new block starts at 4pm, but instead of starting a new block at 12am, it starts a new one at sunset, when the profile changes. Can this be changed? Does it work differently in v6?

The settings on the Recording tab are Profile-specific. Make sure they are identical for both profiles.

Yep the setting for file storage and combine or cut are the same on both profiles. Only thing different is pre-trigger record time.
