What the Flock is going on here!

Well, it seems the "bagging" of Flock cameras was a political move here in Palm Bay. Cameras were covered a week or two before local elections and now that the elections are over, they are now back in service with more going up. They said they checked the permitting and there were no issues with permits THEY approved - all are legal now.

Imagine that
Sounds like Imported Beef to me, haha...

It's become a political shit show here. Every single board member is corrupt, top down. It's all about the money in their pockets

Now I noticed they are marking for something in the neighborhood, but some of the markings are damn near 6 to 7 feet onto our property. We just recently had our property surveyed. There are no markings on the survey for utility or drainage easements in the area they marked.

When FPL put all the lines underground here in 2023, they sent a letter explaining that they would be doing so and that third party contractors would be present. We received nothing in writing about this.

Nothing like appropriating property from homeowners illegally. Time to go to zoning and find out WTF is going on

So a little off topic but they are widening a highway here to add passing lanes. Many properties I see along the highway have their fences/entrance gates right up to/on the easement line. How I know this is the new road is right up to their fences. These are big properties, 50-100+ acres...you can see that some properties have their fence line back 10-20 feet from the easement. Also noticed a Pole Line running next to the highway and yet people still have their fences between the pole line and the highway. These are barbed wire fences, mainly t-post, so not hard to move but trying to figure out what they are really gaining by doing this.

Our county road easement is 16 feet from our property line, if it were a highway I am sure they could/would take more if they needed...

In most areas the utility poles for power, phone or street lighting are set back right where the public right-of-way meets your private property line, sometimes they'll leave a foot of margin. Recent survey markings may reflect that and are generally measured from the roadway centerline for consistancy. Oftentimes GIS maps from your county will reveal what that public ROW distance is.

When One Call or Underground Service Alert (name varies by georgraphic area) or the responsible municipal owner comes to mark underground utilities for a proposed excavation, dig or the like they may mark beyond ROW to make it clear for the excavator where the conduits, ductwork, pipes or wiring could be located so as to prevent damage.

As an example, if the ROW is stated to be 25 ft. from the roadway centerline and the residential roadway is two 13 ft. wide lanes plus 3 ft. drainage gutters on both sides, the public ROW could extend 9 feet onto what appears to be private property (13 + 3+ 9 = 25) especially if that appears to be your yard or driveway.

Hmm, didn't think of drainage...here mainly ditches, same with highway. Our County Road does not have a ditch, drainage is the street which goes down our drive into a creek on our property, which we have a drainage pipe under our drive. The slag rock prevents erosion but we do lose rock on heavy rains...

As I mentioned in an earlier post, FPL moved all lines underground in 2023. Prior to that power lines (and other utilities) were run on poles to the rear of properties, leaving a 10' per property (20 feet total) easement for utilities and drainage. We have city water here, but every property has a septic system, again majority which are located in the back yard.

The only poles we have now are for streetlights and power is fed from underground

If you look at the attached survey, you can see the easements to the left (north) side and to the rear (east) side. The orange paint markings are in the approximate areas on the property, definitely on our property as there are no easements for utilities or drainage from the property line to the front or right (south) side of the house

Edit: I don't know if I mentioned, we had our property surveyed in April and all the markers were present until the utility markers marked the property. The marker to the right of the driveway just below the painted area disappeared when they marked it. Unfortunately, there is a blind spot for camera coverage in the narrow area, so I can't see the marker being removed. And the crossing camera that would be able to see that was blocked by my truck

Were there any colors or other markings on the survey stakes?

It’s not just Flock.

And Flock is probably not the one to watch

Good to see my County on the list.

Though some are simply swapping Flock out for Axon which are more discreet

For those playing from home who have no problem with, or even encourage the massive installation of surveillance cameras and recording devices by government associated with the latest Flock dust up..

The cameras are not the issue.

Trusting government and private companies with collecting and storing the data, and not abusing it, is the bigger issue.

Anyone not seeing the bigger picture of how government and big data companies are tracking everything you do or say, integrating collection methods, to the point of predictive policing and social credit scores, is missing the point.
And thinking it’s not being or won’t be used to control you and not just your behavior but the very concept of free choice and free speech, is foolish. They openly state it as Larry Ellison did just recently in a post in this thread.

Palm Bay at it again. Pay attention to the statement made by Mike Jaffe saying they should have waited for the new governor's election before re-activating the cameras - does he know something we don't? Sure sounds like it.
