I am able to get motion detections via enabling SMD but we are still not receiving detections with IVS rules.

The camera send's the standard onvif alerts with IVS enabled:
  • RuleEngine/CellMotionDetector/Motion (basic motion)
  • RuleEngine/LineDetector/Crossed
  • RuleEngine/FieldDetector/Intrusion
If we could get an event linkage for IVS rules that outputs a general motion ONVIF trigger. Protect would be about 99.9% usable.

Someone on Reddit got it working, but it involved a workaround
Protect is crappier if you are using it for anything more than just cameras

I have a Unifi ecosystem and the mobile camera quality wildly better than blue iris. BI has a special place in my heart but if I can get protect to function with my IVS rules, I'm definitely making the switch. I will still leave BI on my server for redundancy.

Have you seen this project:

No but that is sweet, are you using it? I've been going back and fourth with Ubiquiti support sending them the various onvif lines from ivs notifications so it would be cool if they implement them into Protect.

I think I stumbled on that too through Reddit. Ubiquiti should just accept their cameras suck and allow us to reap the full ONVIF benefit using Andy's cameras

I have not - I went the AI Port route before this was released and haven't dug into it.

watching this, as I am about ready ready to deploy my rack full of unifi devices.

are you using this?
I tried and couldn't get it to work with Tripwires, he has since pushed an update that is supposed to fix that but. I subsequently deployed an ai port recently and have been pretty impressed.

The way I look at it…I want protect but not their dogshit cameras. G6 Pro is 550$. A 5442 cost me 180 and a port per 2 cameras works out to 280 per cam.

That’s how I swallowed it.

u can run 2 cams off each AI port?
Yup!
  • 4K: 1 camera
  • 2K: Up to 2 cameras
  • HD: Up to 3 cameras
I’ve read they have a TON of headroom so I’m optimistic they’ll push an update for possibly 3-4 2k cams per port, I know they could.
